Busan shabu kalguksu restaurant for family dinner: Yunujae
In short
Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu is a shabu-shabu restaurant in Nam-gu, Busan. On a return visit for dinner, I had red shabu kalguksu for two and crispy seafood pajeon, followed by hand-pulled noodles and fried rice. Verdict: a hearty repeat-visit spot for a warm family meal.

Munhyeon-dong shabu kalguksu bustling with family diners at dinner
I first came here after a friend's recommendation and completely fell for it >< It has become one of my own precious repeat-visit spots! Suddenly, I couldn't stop thinking about refreshing~ (not cold ×, refreshing broth ○) shabu-shabu! In the end, I couldn't resist and came back to Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu 😋
It is lovely for the whole family to gather for an intimate meal, and it is the kind of place anyone, young or old, would enjoy, so I really wanted to introduce it to you.

I visited at dinner time, and as expected, it was bustling with diners inside! Since the menu is easy for everyone, young and old, to enjoy, there were so many family groups like ours.
Seeing groups gathered around tables enjoying warm broth, I could see why it has a reputation as a great place for family meals. There may be a bit of a wait, so it would be best to arrive early or keep that in mind during the dinner rush!

How to order and use the self-service station
You can order using the tablet at your table,

and small plates and dipping sauces are self-service!

Water, broth, and kimchi are self-service too.

The best order for eating shabu kalguksu
- Step 1, eat the meat: Put all the meat into the broth before it boils. Once it starts boiling, lower the induction setting to 5 and dip it in the sauce with the vegetables.
- Step 2, eat the kalguksu (knife-cut noodles): After finishing the meat, add the kalguksu. When the broth starts boiling, set the induction burner to 6. Boil for 5 minutes. Stir the noodles well so they do not clump together, and the 5-minute hourglass is handy!
- Step 3, eat the fried rice: After finishing the kalguksu, pour all the remaining broth into a large bowl. Don't worry—the pot handles do not get hot! Set the induction burner to 3, then stir-fry the rice. Leave just one ladleful of broth!
- Broth, kimchi, scissors, plates, and more are available at the self-service station.

Ordering red shabu kalguksu and crispy seafood pajeon
- Red shabu kalguksu, 2 servings: ₩22,000
- Crispy seafood pajeon: ₩16,000
- Total paid: ₩38,000

The crispy seafood pajeon (Korean scallion pancake) came out first, packed with shrimp and all kinds of seafood. We cut it with scissors, and packed up what we could not finish!

The sirloin comes in 70 g portions per person, for 140 g in total.

After the vegetables and meat, you can enjoy a filling course all the way through the kalguksu and fried rice!

Put all the meat into the broth before it boils, then once it starts boiling, lower the induction setting to 5 and dip it in sauce with the vegetables.

After finishing all the vegetables and meat, we added the kalguksu. Maybe because they were hand-pulled noodles, but they were seriously delicious!

Even the final highlight, fried rice 🙈 I had already been here several times, but even on this return visit, it was just as delicious as ever! If you are looking for a great restaurant in Munhyeon-dong, I highly recommend it 🤍
