Ttukseom Station pasta restaurant for solo brunch: Kongkase Seongsu

In short

Kongkase Seongsu is a pasta and gnocchi restaurant in Seongdong, Seoul, set behind a gas station on the walk from Ttukseom Station to Seoul Forest. Eating alone at the large communal table in the middle of the room, the writer ordered an iced latte, mushroom soup and clam-and-scallop wasabi pasta, with complimentary olive bread served before the meal. The basil pesto sauce balanced garlic and wasabi and the noodles were cooked perfectly — good enough that she thanked the staff on the way out.

Inside Kongkase Seongsu: relaxed, modern and dog-friendly

The inside of Kongkase Seongsu is comfortable and has plenty of seating. There's a long window along one side that lets in gorgeous light. Great for a weekday afternoon meal in the sun. Good for a cozy date for two, and just as good for a bigger group. Fun layout, with a big table right in the middle.

It's dog-friendly, so it's a great stop after a walk with your dog in Seoul Forest. I came in alone and took a seat by myself at the big table.

One wall in particular had really striking interior design — clean, white-toned, sophisticated but comfortable. A really, really good space for a weekday morning brunch get-together.

Brunch needs coffee: the iced latte at Kongkase Seongsu

I ordered coffee for my caffeine transfusion. I wanted a hot latte, but unfortunately hot wasn't available, so I ordered it iced instead. And wow, it was so good. I was genuinely surprised haha.

Mushroom soup: the warm starter to order at Kongkase Seongsu

I think soup is an essential brunch item — something warm and soft to soothe your stomach in the morning, and it happens to be a soup I absolutely love.

Kongkase Seongsu had mushroom soup, so I ordered it, and it was really smooth and delicious, with the mushrooms finely chopped for a nice bit of texture. Dipping the bread in it made the soup taste even better.

The bread was delicious dipped in olive oil and balsamic, and just as good dipped in the mushroom soup.

The clam-and-scallop wasabi pasta is the dish to get

I ordered the clam-scallop wasabi pasta at Kongkase Seongsu and it was seriously, seriously good haha. It came piled high with rocket, so green and pretty.

Lift up the rocket and underneath is basil pesto wasabi sauce, garlic, and finely chopped scallops — seriously so good haha.

Basil pesto, garlic and wasabi: how the sauce tastes

It's an incredible combination, genuinely so tasty. Not a typical tomato sauce, not a typical cream sauce — a sauce loaded with herbs that was just so good ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ.

Perfectly cooked pasta noodles

The noodles were cooked perfectly too — everything about this pasta was perfect.
