Bundang BBQ restaurant with Jeju white pork 300g: Jeju Monteurak

The weather was so nice I got a craving for freshly grilled samgyeopsal (pork belly) and grilled kimchi, so I headed to Jeju Monteurak, a well-loved BBQ spot in Bundang. It's been a true Jeju antibiotic-free pork belly favorite near Sunae Station for 9 years running, so I wanted to introduce it to you all.

Where is Jeju Monteurak Bundang Sunae, and where do large cars park?

Jeju Monteurak Bundang Sunae Branch is located at Gratea 101, 23 Hwangsaeul-ro 258beon-gil, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is open weekdays 15:00-23:00, weekends 12:00-23:00. It's corkage-free.

It's a 4-minute walk from Exit 1 of Sunae Station, on the ground floor of the Gratea officetel building, so you can use the building's mechanical parking. If you drive a Genesis SUV or any large car, you can park at the Bobos building right next door and register for up to 1.5 hours of free parking, so feel free to visit without worry.

What Jeju Monteurak looks like at 6pm on a weekday: a full house of work dinners

After parking easily and stepping inside, the black interior with sofa seating spaced comfortably apart made it feel perfect for a nearby office worker's dinner gathering. It's a spacious restaurant that seats up to 100, popular for family gatherings, Bundang wedding invitation meetups, and company dinners — a real Bundang BBQ favorite.

When I visited at 6pm on a weekday, five tables were already eating, and by the time our meat was grilling, the place had filled up completely with a company dinner party — that's Jeju Monteurak Sunae for you.

Disposable aprons are placed around the restaurant, and there's a table menu system where you can order and make requests directly.

Jeju white pork samgyeopsal 300g for 36,000 won: how does it differ from black pork?

The Jeju white pork samgyeopsal (pork belly) at Jeju Monteurak Bundang Sunae Branch is 300g for ₩36,000. It comes with lettuce wraps, bracken fern, shredded scallion salad, wild garlic leaves, fresh wasabi, salt, ssamjang, and garlic shrimp sauce as basic sides, and all the meat is grilled skillfully by the staff, so all you have to do is wait comfortably and enjoy.

Unlike black pork, which has dense muscle tissue and firm fat layers for a chewier texture, Jeju white pork has a softer, cleaner flavor that suits my taste more, so I started with the white pork samgyeopsal.

The Monteurak staff member also grilled asparagus, white kimchi, and king oyster mushrooms on the side using the Jeju pork belly fat. Even with so many company dinner and group parties around, they kept grilling attentively from start to finish, so I got to relive the same moving quality of samgyeopsal I had in Jeju itself.

Monteurak kimchi jjigae for 8,000 won, rice included (so we skipped the fried rice)

The Monteurak kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) is ₩8,000. I was torn between this and the Jeju meat noodles, but since I heard the kimchi jjigae was Monteurak's signature side dish, I added it — though it comes with one bowl of rice already included, so I couldn't fit in the finishing fried rice. The flavor was that classic sweet BBQ-restaurant-style kimchi jjigae.

The Jeju white pork samgyeopsal itself was so thick that we had to wait for it to cook through to a golden brown inside — the sound of it grilling was honestly hard to resist.

How to eat the samgyeopsal at Jeju Monteurak: asparagus and white kimchi

I always eat the first bite of meat on its own — the juices spread throughout my mouth with absolutely no gamy smell, total heaven♥ Adding grilled white kimchi, asparagus, and shredded scallion salad brought out more depth of flavor and texture, and wrapping it all in lettuce with a dab of cheongyang chili and wasabi was unbeatable. The lettuce was fresh too — perfect.

Personally I love the combo of asparagus and meat, and Jeju Monteurak provides asparagus as a standard side, with the option to order more if you want — I loved that.

Adding another 150g of Jeju white pork samgyeopsal for 18,000 won

The Jeju pork belly was so fresh that instead of ordering a rice dish, I added another serving of Jeju white pork samgyeopsal (150g, ₩18,000) and asked for a lettuce refill. Eating it together with the white kimchi, there was zero greasiness — this is the kind of Bundang BBQ favorite your parents would love too, Jeju Monteurak.

I felt completely full just on the Jeju samgyeopsal alone, even without carbs — Jeju Monteurak Sunae Branch really is a Bundang BBQ favorite.
