Magok Seoul restaurant with snow cheese fried rice: Songjjujip Magok

In short

Songjjujip Magok is a spicy webfoot octopus and pork belly restaurant on the 2nd floor of Central Tower 2, near Exit 1 of Magoknaru Station in Gangseo, Seoul, where it has been running for 10 years. Two servings of octopus + sari-mongttang (18,800 won) plus cheese fried rice (3,500 won) came at the default spice level, about as hot as Shin Ramyun, and the best bite was white kimchi piled onto the snow cheese fried rice stir-fried from the leftover octopus and pork. Songjjujip Magok is easy going for spice-shy eaters, and the fried rice finish is a must-order.

Bit and I decided to have dinner together for the first time in a while after work, and I was craving something spicy that day, so we went to Songjjujip!!! This place has been near Magongnaru Station for a really long time, so it's my go-to trusted octopus spot in Magongnaru haha.

It's near Magongnaru Station on Line 9! It's also right around Seoul Botanic Park, COEX, and LG Arts Center, so it's a great spot to swing by.

The door was wide open like this (lol?)

They've apparently already hit their 10th anniversary..! This is seriously a long-running Magongnaru favorite lol

Inside Songjjujip Magok and how kiosk ordering works

Songjjujip Magok has a lot of table seating, including some by the window. You order at the kiosk, and Naver reviews can apparently be submitted per person, not just per table!

So many table seats!! There are window-side tables too!

The default spice level is supposedly about as hot as Shin Ramyun! There's a call-staff button at the bottom of the kiosk for side dish refills and anything else you need!

What comes in the octopus + sari-mongttang set and the side dishes

Songjjujip Magok's sari-mongttang comes with pork belly, vegetables, rice cake, and cheese rice cake! Pretty generous, right?

Basic side dishes: chives, flying fish roe, seaweed, sauce

And you get chives, flying fish roe, seaweed, sauce, bean sprouts, perilla leaves, white kimchi, and salad. These combos are a must while eating the octopus and pork!!

A staff member showed us how to eat it first!! You just pile it all on like this and wrap it up with the octopus and pork!

There's even a cold soup on the side, so you can take a sip whenever it gets too spicy

Ah, I'm a repeat repeat repeat customer at Songjjujip lol This place's white kimchi is genuinely delicious! It pairs perfectly with the octopus and pork, and perfectly with the fried rice too

How spicy is the default level? About as hot as Shin Ramyun

The staff at Songjjujip cook the octopus and pork right at your table, so it was easy to just sit back and eat. We didn't add extra spice, keeping it at the default level (about as hot as Shin Ramyun), and it was just spicy enough — great!

Octopus and pork belly cooking with the secret sauce

They apparently use their own secret sauce, and honestly the sauce already looks delicious just by itself lol

But seriously, look at the size of the octopus..! It's huge lol This place doesn't skimp on ingredients. The pork belly pieces are massive too. The sauce soaks in really well

The staff cut everything into bite-sized pieces after cooking, both the pork belly and the octopus. Then it's ready to eat!!! I tried it plain first, and it's spicy yet chewy..!

Finished plate of cooked octopus and pork belly

First I made a wrap exactly the way they showed me..! This really seems to be the standard method, and it's the most delicious lol (and it's not overly spicy for spice-shy people)

Every now and then I'd eat some of the cheese rice cake~ and it's also super delicious just piling extra sauce onto the octopus and pork on its own, ugh

After that I just made wraps however I felt like haha Honestly the portion barely seemed to shrink no matter how much we ate

Why the snow cheese fried rice is a must-order at Songjjujip Magok

The cheese fried rice is 3,500 won, and they mix in the leftover octopus and pork! It's honestly way more delicious made with the leftovers!

Cheese fried rice served with snow cheese

Since it's cheese fried rice, the cheese comes along too lol It's not mozzarella but snow cheese fried rice. Even better

The staff finished off the fried rice with some flashy skills haha

Staff finishing the cheese fried rice

Honestly, if you eat the octopus and pork and skip the fried rice, that's a real shame ㅠ Scooping the fried rice right on top of the snow cheese to melt it even more is just so good ㅠ__ㅠ

You get to see this kind of cheese performance

Stretchy snow cheese fried rice

The octopus and pork are tasty, but for me the fried rice at this place is the real deal!!!! So even if you're stuffed, make sure to eat this fried rice. Since flying fish roe already comes as a side dish, it's great to order the cheese version if you can! The staff even asked, "Should I thoughtfully mix in the leftover flying fish roe too?" haha

And piling all the white kimchi on top is exactly why I keep coming back to this place..haha

Final verdict on Songjjujip Magok

The octopus was chunky and the pork belly generous, so even split between two people the portion felt quite ample haha The default spice level is about as hot as Shin Ramyun, so even a spice wimp like me could enjoy it! But most of all, I think the fried rice here is truly the real deal!!

Even if you're full after the octopus and pork, definitely eat the fried rice... The cheese fried rice + white kimchi combo especially is just impossible to resist ㅠㅠ

If you're looking for an octopus restaurant near Magongnaru Station, Songjjujip is definitely worth a visit.
