Hannam-dong izakaya terrace and uni soba dinner: OSA Hannam, Seoul
In short
OSA Hannam is a Japanese izakaya with a terrace, tucked into an alley in Hannam-dong, Yongsan, Seoul. On a weeknight visit with a friend, the order was the special sushi platter (₩68,000) and the signature uni (sea urchin) and sweet shrimp perilla oil soba (₩39,000), finished off at a terrace table. The mood, the food and the plating at OSA Hannam are all evenly strong, making it an easy recommendation for an anniversary or a date night.

Why OSA Hannam is known as the spot for Jennie's birthday party
OSA Hannam is the place Jennie visited for her birthday party. (I'm listening to Jennie's songs right now.) I went too, hehe.

It's tucked deep inside an alley, so the walk there is quiet and calm from the start — I really liked that.

Once you reach the entrance, a big tree wrapped in sparkling lights greets you, and it's so pretty you can't help but take a photo, haha.

There's a valet booth right across from the store, so you can just hand off your car for parking. 120 minutes / ₩5,000.

Even on a weekday there were so many guests, so reservations are absolutely essential even on weekdays.
First-floor hall, second-floor rooms or terrace: where to sit at OSA Hannam
Thanks to the soft lighting at every table, the overall mood at OSA Hannam is peak romantic. (These photos were mostly taken near closing time.)
First, let me show you the first floor hall. The lighting is dim and soft, so I'd recommend the first floor hall for a blind date, haha. The lighting makes everything look twice as pretty.
Take this pretty staircase up to the second floor, where the rooms and restroom are. There are rooms with glass doors, and rooms that are completely closed off from view.
- 2-4 person room: minimum spend ₩150,000 / room charge ₩30,000 (waived if spending over ₩200,000)
- 8-10 person room: minimum spend ₩300,000 / room charge ₩50,000 (waived if spending over ₩400,000)
That's what they told me! True to a high-end izakaya, even the restroom is upscale.

On a cool summer night, the terrace is everything. It felt like the most perfect setting for a date — of course, I went with a friend, haha.

They even have chargers, and portable battery rental is available!
What comes on the ₩68,000 special sushi platter

Already tipsy on the mood, the dishes we ordered finally started arriving on the table one by one! The first star was the special sushi platter (₩68,000). On a long stone plate, sushi topped generously with thick cuts of neta lay neatly lined up, haha.
From tuna to white fish, chewy sweet shrimp, rich uni, and even lightly seared meat sushi — the lineup was pure variety. I ignored composition entirely because I wanted to eat fast, so the photos are a bit sloppy. Even so, that gorgeous look couldn't be hidden...

The freshness of the sashimi itself was no joke — it melted in your mouth the moment you bit into it, and the seasoning was on the stronger side, which paired really well with beer.

Signature uni and sweet shrimp perilla oil soba, ₩39,000
The signature menu item, uni sweet shrimp perilla oil soba (₩39,000). A special perilla oil sauce pools at the bottom, with buckwheat noodles coiled neatly on top, and generously piled on top of the noodles are thick uni, sweet shrimp, grated yam, and crispy toppings.
You're supposed to lift off the uni and sweet shrimp on top and mix everything together like this.
Mix it well and take a bite — the deep, nutty perilla oil aroma hits your nose right away, and the chewiness of the sweet shrimp and the rich, creamy umami of the uni just explode. It was genuinely insanely good, ugh.

My friend was eating it so happily, haha. But then this friend — maybe out of Korean-style politeness or something —

— nervously split the last bit of uni and sweet shrimp in half and left my portion, I nearly died laughing. Thanks, but seriously, you can just eat it all..!!
In the end, another friend who rushed over after a work dinner joined us too. Something sad and not great had happened that day, but finishing dinner in the relaxed, atmospheric mood of OSA Hannam, feeling completely happy, gave me a little comfort, even if just for a moment :)
Is OSA Hannam worth it? Final verdict
Unlike a bustling downtown area, it's set in a somewhat quiet spot, which was great for us to talk comfortably among ourselves, and the average quality of the food was better than expected. With nothing lacking in mood, taste, or plating, I'd recommend OSA Hannam for a special anniversary or a day when you want to set the mood :)
