There are days when even after eating way too much, you still want coffee and something sweet. ☕️ After a meal in Seongsu, you naturally end up looking for a café — and that day, after finishing our meal and saying "let's grab a coffee before we go home!", we ended up at Bocado Butter Seongsu Main Store.

Honestly, since we'd eaten so heavily, I wasn't planning to eat much dessert at all. I just wanted a bit of caffeine and maybe one small sweet thing to cleanse the palate. But the signature bocado (a bite-sized dessert) I had here turned out to be way more delicious than expected, and it really stuck with me.

I picked the butter cream, and personally this combination really won me over. I had assumed "butter cream" would be sweet and heavy, but the one I tried was less sweet than I expected. Instead, it had that distinctly nutty, buttery flavor that paired perfectly with the crisp bocado!!

The portion was bigger than I expected too, so we ended up bringing some home. Turns out the kids loved it even more than we did haha 😂 So we made a promise that next time we're back in Seongsu, we'll buy a whole box of bocados just for them lol.

So what exactly is a bocado?

The little stickers marking each cream flavor were so cute haha. The bocados were already baked and displayed when we arrived. At first I wondered, "what's a bocado?" — turns out "bocado" is Spanish for "a bite," and Bocado Butter describes itself as a dessert that leaves an unforgettable impression in just one bite haha.

Bocado Butter can only be found here in Seongsu. It's perfect for when you're full but still want something sweet and simple. They also sell a Bocado Butter Happy Box for gifting, which seems ideal for anyone coming to Seongsu specifically to buy dessert.

A nice reason to bring kids: the hand-washing area

There was one more thing I personally really liked — a separate space just for washing hands. You might not think much of this at a café or dessert shop, but once you start going places with kids, it turns out to matter a surprising amount.

Especially with a finger-food menu like this, having somewhere nearby to wash hands before eating with the kids is really convenient. I always keep an eye out for this kind of thing when eating out or going to cafés with my children, so I appreciated that there was a clean, hygienic hand-washing spot available. Great dessert matters, but having these small conveniences in place makes visiting so much more comfortable.

Definitely add the cream

I bought the coffee and Bocado Butter set and added one cream — and trust me, definitely add this cream ♥ I'm a total cream person so of course I ordered it, but even a friend who isn't usually into cream said it was so good haha.

Popping one bite in, it was so crisp with a great rich flavor — it felt like something I'd had before but also totally new?! The buttery aroma really came through, and I loved it.

Coffee and one bocado on a full stomach — just right

Since I was already stuffed, eating something heavy like cake felt like too much, but coffee plus one bocado was exactly the right amount. If I hadn't been so full, I probably would have tried more menu items, but that day my stomach was truly packed.

So I didn't get to try much else, but the bocado I had was pretty satisfying. What I liked most was that the butter cream wasn't overly sweet. Dessert preferences vary a lot from person to person, so I can't say everyone will love it the same way, but for my taste — someone who doesn't love overly sweet desserts — it hit the mark.

Plenty of people were taking dessert to go, but it's also totally fine to sit and relax like we did! You know those days in Seongsu when you're full but still crave coffee and dessert? On days like that, coffee with one bocado is a pretty solid choice.

This was my first time trying it, and next time I'll definitely bring the kids along too. There's always so much to eat in Seongsu that I tend to chase new places every time, but it's kind of fun finding a menu that makes me think "I need to have this again" after just one visit. 🤎 Next time I go to Seongsu, I'll make sure to bring enough home for the kids too.
