Moonbird is a large bakery café in Goeup-dong, Yangju, Gyeonggi. My friend and I stuffed ourselves at a great lunch spot near Ogjeong, and like a sparrow that can't just walk past a rice mill, the words "okay, where's dessert?" naturally came out 🐽

I was tapping away at the search bar when I heard there was a really pretty large café nearby, so I turned the wheel haha. And that's how we ended up at Moonbird in Yangju! Honestly, before going I thought "it's probably just another generic large café" and didn't expect much. But the moment we arrived at the entrance, I gasped once at the exterior, then gasped again at the wide, green lawn garden spread out in front 👀

And the second I opened the door and stepped inside, I was completely won over by the vast, stylish interior that felt like a whole different world 🥹👏

What are the floor-to-ceiling window views and seats at Moonbird like?

The moment you step into Moonbird, the huge space and towering ceiling typical of a large café greet you, and the sense of openness was truly a work of art. The whole front is floor-to-ceiling glass, so there's zero feeling of being closed in 👍

From one side of the glass wall you can see the lush green lawn plaza right in front of the café, and from another side you get the view of Dokbawi rock — famous for its scenery in Yangju — along with a wide-open view of Ogjeong New Town. All I could say was "wow." I bet it's even prettier at night 😳

On top of that, the tables are spaced generously and there are huge group tables set up, so even a big family or group of 10+ people could comfortably sit without worrying about space 👏

You could tell so much care went into every seat and every little decor piece — I felt full just from looking around before even eating the coffee and dessert. If you like aesthetic photos, come here with plenty of phone storage cleared out!

How are Moonbird's care-kids zone and no-kids zone divided?

At Moonbird, Hall A and the outdoor garden are the care-kids zone, and Hall B is the no-kids zone. Looking around, I thought this was such a thoughtful touch!

Hall A and the outdoor garden are set up as a care-kids zone where kids can enjoy themselves, so families with children can comfortably find this pretty Yangju café spot without worrying about disturbing others.

On the other hand, for those who want quiet conversation or a relaxed, healing kind of time, Hall B operates as a no-kids zone, so everyone can pick the space that suits them 👍👍 The thoughtful consideration for guests made me feel warm inside.

Is the lawn garden in front of Moonbird good for photos?

The wide lawn spread out right in front of the Moonbird building is genuinely a masterstroke! The lawn view through the glass windows, bathed in warm sunlight, is pretty on its own, but walking out onto it in person felt even better.

This wide lawn is perfect for dressing up babies in cute outfits for portrait shots, and it's also a top photo spot for couples on dates to capture couple shots together.

Green grass, blue sky, and the emotional café building all come together so that even casual shots turn out like a magazine spread haha. I lost count of how many photos my friend and I took here! And there's a photo printing machine inside the store, so you can print them out right away, which was a nice touch!

What we ordered at Moonbird: fig danish and Basque crumble cheesecake

At Moonbird we ordered two iced Americanos, a fig danish, and a Basque crumble cheesecake. Honestly, looking at the menu at first, the fruit snow-flake milk bingsu (shaved ice) and the cakes were so tempting,

But since we were already way too full from lunch, we held back and each got a coffee, plus — because there's always room for dessert — a slice of Basque crumble cheesecake and a fig danish haha.

The buzzer rang and we brought over the tray, and maybe because of the sunlight coming through the glass windows, it looked like a magazine spread just sitting there on the table! The cool iced Americano was familiar yet clean and nutty, pairing well with the desserts without any fuss.

And the fig danish I was most looking forward to! I'd been debating whether to get the earl grey fig slice cake instead, but since there was a fig danish in the bakery case, I picked that — and honestly, I wanted to give myself a round of applause for choosing both this fig danish and the Basque crumble cheesecake ☺️!

Truly an excellent choice haha. Thanks to the sweet, charming combination of bakery item and drink, I got a proper dose of healing. It's not for nothing that this Yangju bakery café is talked about so much.

How the fig danish and Basque crumble cheesecake taste

Moonbird's fig danish had a pleasantly sweet base layered with the tangy-sweet flavor of fig woven through the pastry's many crisp layers — a taste that made my whole mouth happy.

And the Basque crumble cheesecake had that signature Basque fluffy-yet-dense, moist texture that I love. On top, there was a generous layer of nutty crumble, adding a contrasting crunchy texture that doubled the fun of eating it haha. If you're looking for a sophisticated-tasting dessert at a large Yangju café, I highly recommend this combo!

It felt almost unfair that such a pretty, delicious large-café dessert spot had been so close to home this whole time and I only just found out. I was too full to try it this time, but I couldn't take my eyes off the raw mangosteen bingsu at the next table, and I've already decided I'm coming back for it!

Why I would go back to Moonbird

Thanks to the wide-open panoramic windows, the delicious bakery items, and the friendly, pleasant space, my friend and I chatted for ages and got a proper healing break.

From the interior design down to the outdoor lawn, there wasn't a single thing lacking, so I'm planning to come back again later with our kids! If you want to enjoy a nice view and some relaxed time near Ogjeong, I strongly recommend stopping by Moonbird in Yangju ‼️
