Yangju brunch café with croissant sandwich sets and a kids zone

My wife and I took our 3-month-old baby to Moonbird, a large café in Goeup-dong, Yangju, on a weekday morning.

With a huge lawn garden and all kinds of bread, it's really a great Yangju dessert spot to visit with a young child, so here's my review.

Where Moonbird is, where to park, and how A-hall and B-hall differ

Moonbird sits in Goeup-dong, Yangju, in a spot that overlooks Okjeong New Town, so the view is really nice. Right past the entrance on the left there's a large ground-level parking lot, separate from the building itself, which made me feel much more at ease moving the baby out of the car seat.

We arrived around 11am on a weekday and had a relaxed, quiet visit, but I heard that on weekends even that huge lot fills up. If you're coming with a child, I'd recommend heading out a bit early.

The building's exterior color is so pretty you end up taking photos before you even go in. The café is split into A-hall and B-hall — A-hall runs as a kids-care zone, B-hall as a no-kids zone, so if you're with a child you can only use A-hall. There's a notice posted at the entrance worth reading before you go in: no outside food allowed, and no wheeled items on the lawn garden.

Inside A-hall it's a beige-toned interior with wide floor-to-ceiling windows, so wherever you sit you get the garden view straight on.

We sat by the window, and since it was morning and quiet, the baby slept peacefully.

B-hall is similar to A-hall but different, too — quiet sofa seating where you can relax and unwind.

Why Moonbird works for a visit with a baby

What makes this large Yangju café good for visiting with a child is that the space is spacious and the tables are set well apart, so you don't feel awkward keeping a baby carrier or stroller nearby. The café was quiet and comfortable enough that having a little baby along didn't feel out of place, and they even had blankets on hand, which felt like a thoughtful touch.

Next to the ordering counter, the showcase has separate drinks for kids, and they use ice cream made with Sangha Farm milk — I'd love to come back and share some once our baby is a bit older. The outdoor lawn garden is also huge, and looked great for toddlers learning to walk to run around in.

Moonbird's bakery selection and what we ordered

Moonbird's bakery case is packed — kouign-amann, salt bread, kkeurungji (crispy scorched-rice bread), tiramisu croissants, even Dubai pistachio chocolate cookies. A sign notes they use French flour, L'Envie butter, and Elle & Vire cream, which got me even more excited.

There are three croissant sandwiches — basil ham cheese, egg salad, and green onion cream cheese — and on weekdays ordering a sandwich with an Americano as a set gets you ₩1,000 off, so we went with the set.

Moonbird's croissant sandwiches are bigger than your palm, so unlike a burger they're hard to just pick up and eat — you need a knife and fork.

The basil ham cheese I had was crisp on the outside, with vegetables, tomato, ham, and cheese inside brushed with basil sauce. The ingredients were fresh and generous, so every bite felt packed and satisfying.

The Americano wasn't overly acidic and leaned nutty, which paired well with the sandwich.

My wife's green onion cream cheese was a combination neither of us had tried before, and we were a bit skeptical, but the nuttiness of the cream cheese with a faint hit of green onion kept it from being heavy, and she kept reaching for more.

The latte had a rich milk flavor too, and my wife was happy with it.

Even one sandwich alone was filling, so it was the perfect setting to slow down and spend a leisurely brunch time with coffee.

Verdict and tips before visiting Moonbird

Moonbird, this large Yangju café, has the garden views plus the bread and coffee to match — a genuine Yangju dessert destination that made for a completely satisfying, relaxed morning with a baby.

One tip before you go: if you attach three or more photos to a receipt review and show it to staff, you get a random bakery item free, and you can pack any leftover bread into the take-out bags at the self-serve bar.

The croissant sandwiches can sell out by around noon, so I'd recommend visiting in the morning.
