In short

Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Osong 2 Sandan Branch is a large Korean BBQ and butcher-shop restaurant in Osong-eup, Cheongju, on the 3rd floor of the shopping building in front of Paragon 1st. Two diners ordered the half pig (500g, 40,000 won) for lunch and grilled five cuts — ogyeopsal (five-layer belly), pork neck, pork belly, hangjeongsal (pork jowl) and gabrisal (pork collar) — alongside scallion salad tossed with jjolmyeon noodles, kimchi pancake and old-style doenjang jjigae. With two hours of underground parking registered at the counter and a kids' play room, Hanmaeum works for both family meals and group dinners.

Even before you get to the elevator, you can see delicious-looking meat menus on a standing sign. Press 3 and head down.

Inside Hanmaeum: kids' play room and room for group dinners

The moment you walk in, you're struck by the sheer number of tables and the spacious layout, with a sleek, comfortable interior. It's great for company group dinners too, and the play room is genuinely huge? It's clean and the facilities are really nice, haha. This place is well-positioned for family gatherings with lots of kids.

High chairs are also provided, so no worries there!

You can tell the owner takes pride in the meat — the fresh, aged raw meat is on display right in front of you.

Menu and prices: half pig, 500g for 40,000 won

Menu board at Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Osong 2 Sandan Branch

True to being an Osong Station BBQ spot, they sell both beef and pork, plus great-value lunch specials only available at lunchtime. Signature menus: beef whole (600g) ₩75,000, beef half (300g) ₩40,000, pork whole (1kg) ₩73,000, pork half (500g) ₩40,000. Since we came as a couple, we ordered the pork half-pig.

Side dishes, table setup and the self-serve corner

They set the table with basic side dishes — lettuce wraps and pickles good with meat, geotjeori (fresh kimchi), basic doenjang jjigae, and a scallion salad (with jjolmyeon added).

If any side dish runs short, you can grab more from the self-serve corner. I went and got some to make sesame oil and salt dip, haha.

Half pig (500g): five pork cuts on one grill

Order the pork half-pig at Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Osong 2 Sandan Branch and you get to eat five different cuts at once — ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly), pork neck, pork belly, hangjeongsal (pork jowl), and gabrisal, haha.

Oh, and they also fry up kimchi pancake right away — eat this before the meat, haha. Warm, crispy, savory-salty, so delicious, haha.

Now they gently lay the meat on the grill and you work the heat, grilling away diligently, haha. The cuts had just the right thickness, so grilling difficulty wasn't too high.

Cut into bite-sized pieces, haha. Look at that color, isn't it amazing? They grilled some fern bracken along with it too.

This level of doneness is truly delicious (in my personal taste).

Sesame oil and salt dip vs. ssamjang

There are two dips for the meat: ssamjang and sesame oil-salt sauce. Dip deep into the sesame oil-salt sauce and the sesame's nuttiness plus the salt's savoriness bring out the meat's own umami even more, haha. Personally, I recommend making the sesame oil-salt dip, haha. The crispy, savory pork meat plus fat parts were so good, ㅠㅠ not the slightest bit greasy, oisshi~~ haha (means delicious).

But! If you feel it's too rich, try eating the meat topped with shredded scallions.

Shredded scallions placed on top of grilled meat

This was my first time seeing shredded scallions with jjolmyeon mixed in — the tangy scallions and the jjolmyeon given as a complimentary side tasted really good together, haha.

Getting to try the specialty cuts hangjeongsal and gabrisal too makes for a great lineup. Try eating them neatly over plain white rice with just the meat — you'll feel pure bliss, haha.

The bubbling, old-style doenjang jjigae came loaded with tofu, and the portion was really generous. Eating meat at lunchtime — total jackpot, so delicious.

All the complimentary side dishes were tasty, so I made good use of them wrapping bites of meat together. The fern bracken tastes even better if you fry it up crispy.

Too much fat? Order the pork neck

If you don't like fat and prefer lean meat, I recommend just eating the pork neck. And pork neck tastes best dipped in ssamjang!

We cut it into neat bite-sized pieces while grilling. The pork neck was firm, chewy, and hearty to eat. My husband grilled it really well, haha — look at that glossy shine!

Receipt review event and parking registration at Hanmaeum

Leave a Naver receipt review and they'll give you tasty pork skin (kkeopdegi) — great as a side with soju, so be sure to join the review event. Great value and great satisfaction — Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang, an Osong Station BBQ favorite, we ate very well and very full.
