Daegu shabu-shabu buffet with soybean broth: Shabu20 Bokhyeon

In short

Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu buffet in Buk-gu, Daegu. On an 80-minute weekday lunch course, I tried soybean and katsuobushi broths with unlimited beef and pork, vegetables, Vietnamese rolls, fried chicken, and dessert. Verdict: a generous, well-managed spot for a group meal or family outing.

Now that the weather has cooled down, who else suddenly gets hit with a shabu-shabu craving...? I suddenly wanted shabu-shabu SO badly. Since I happened to have taken Friday off, I immediately headed to Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch, a great restaurant near Daegu Airport, for lunch.

Visit to Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch

So Won Bin was Shabu20's model. It somehow makes the brand feel classy, you know? Hahahahahaha.

A spacious parking lot and entrance information

The parking lot was spacious too, so it was super easy to come out for a meal. I loved being able to park and head straight in without wandering alleyways or waiting around because of parking. Nice!

It was such a nice touch to have the prices and broth information displayed right at the entrance..! You can check the prices beforehand and quickly see which broths they have before going in.

Shabu20 is running its Shasha event these days, so I entered too. I hope I'm the lucky winner 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

A roomy interior for group gatherings too

The moment I walked in, I automatically said, wow, it's huge. The staff welcomed us kindly, and the whole place was clean and comfortable—such a nice restaurant near Daegu Airport!

I snapped the interior before it filled up with guests. There were lots of tables, so it looked more than capable of hosting a group gathering, haha. You can conveniently reserve through Naver too! They also have high chairs, blankets, and clothes hangers.

Weekday lunch and half soybean, half katsuobushi broth

We visited at weekday lunch, so the 80-minute lunch course applied. Eighty minutes was more than enough time to eat our fill.

Weekday lunch course information

There are five broths in total, and you can choose two. We couldn't contain our curiosity this time and ordered the soybean broth. Half soybean, half katsuobushi!

A salad bar with unlimited meat too

Once you've ordered your broth, you can head to the salad bar and freely fill your plate with vegetables, sauces, and food.

All-you-can-eat salad bar foods

There was such a variety of food at the salad bar. Everyone knows Shabu20 means dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken), right? It's honestly better than most dakgangjeong shops, hahaha. Was Shabu20 always packed with this much delicious food? It had been a while since I'd come, and it felt like there were even more choices—good food everywhere.

They even had cool umitgasa-ri (seaweed jelly) kongguk, or chilled soybean soup. Absolutely perfect...!

At Shabu20, it isn't just the vegetables that are unlimited—the meat is unlimited too. This is Shabu20's biggest strength! At a regular shabu-shabu place, adding meat can quietly add up, but here you can take as much as you want from the meat station without feeling self-conscious, haha.

They have both beef and pork, so eat whichever you prefer. If you get greedy, you'll inevitably leave some behind, so you're limited to three plates at a time, haha. Let's take only a little at a time—what we'll eat!

An adorable vegetable garden. It was neatly and generously stocked with all kinds of vegetables. Whenever the vegetables ran low, staff refilled them right away.

The Vietnamese roll corner was clean too. What I liked most about Shabu20, a restaurant near Daegu Airport, was how diligently the staff walked around keeping everything in order! They cleared empty dishes right away too. The best.

I'm a chubby person who loves vegetables as much as meat. I seriously go crazy for shabu-shabu vegetables.... Hahahahahahahahaha.

There were also foods to whet your appetite before the meal, like salad, dotori-muk (acorn jelly), and vinegared side dishes, haha.

Sauce, drinks, and dessert corner

This is the sauce zone. There were lots of sauces, and it was fun making different combinations. The suggested sauce combinations are written out, so you can follow them. There were lots of desserts too. But I was so full that I left without having any fruit.

Varied dessert and fruit corner

Shabu20 had unlimited draft beer too???? Too bad I had to drive and couldn't drink it. Calling the drink corner a mineral spring was cute. They had fruit juice and lots of fizzy drink options too!

Coffee and ice cream dessert zone

The dessert zone. You can make all kinds of coffee, and there's an ice cream machine too!!! No matter how full you are, you can't say no to dessert ice cream. I also loved that there were lots of ice cream toppings~~~

Going all in on meat and vegetables in soybean broth

While the broth came to a boil, we busily brought over sauces, vegetables, Vietnamese roll ingredients, food, and most importantly, meat. Ready to eat.

I'd been curious about Shabu20's soybean broth every time I came, but I never quite dared to try it, always going half spicy and half katsuobushi. This time I couldn't hold back my curiosity and ordered it. Sipping the broth on its own, it had a slight soybean powder taste? It wasn't intensely rich like kongguksu (cold soybean noodle soup) broth, but there was a nutty soybean flavor at the finish, haha.

Throw in the vegetables and meat with abandon.... You know shabu-shabu gets better the longer it boils.

Filling up on food while everything cooked. I was so hungry. As expected, dakgangjeong is delicious whenever you eat it. Everything was good, but the dakgangjeong and takoyaki were the best.

The soybean broth was subtly nutty, so it didn't feel unfamiliar at all. If you like a nutty broth, give it a try.

At Shabu20, you can fill up on meat instead of just vegetables, which I love... Especially at the Bokhyeon branch, the salad bar was well managed and the staff were kind.

A Vietnamese roll loaded with desire. Make it with peanut sauce, then dip it in yuzu ponzu sauce—it is seriously so good!!

I was full, but I still had rice noodles. Ah, I was so disappointed that I felt like I was about to burst and couldn't eat the juk (rice porridge). Writing this post is making me regret it; hahahahahahaha.

I freshened up with ice cream and that was the end of the meal!

Ice cream dessert after the meal

You can take dessert to go too, so we made ourselves an iced Americano each for the trip home, haha. Isn't that incredibly generous? From the meal through dessert, you can neatly take care of everything in one place, so I recommend the unlimited buffet Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch for gatherings or family meals.
