Free decaf swap for pregnant guests at a Suwon café: Jeong Ji-young

Hi, it's Yamberry! 🍓 Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters is one of the flagship cafés in Haenggung-dong! You can spot it pretty much anywhere in Suwon — it's so well known that basically every Suwon local has heard of it — but I always end up chasing down small indie cafés whenever I come to Haenggung-dong, so I realized I'd actually never visited this place! This time I found out they have coconut coffee, so I took the chance to check it out!

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch is open from 11am to 10pm. For parking, you can use a nearby public lot — I'd recommend Hwahongmun Public Parking Lot.

As you'd expect from a flagship coffee spot in Haenggung-dong, they really do have a ton of merch! I didn't expect the whole industrial 'iron-terior' styling either — I was so surprised by how hip the vibe was!

And here too, the "coconut coffee" signage really stands out

The interior had way more atmosphere than I expected — I got completely absorbed in looking around!

⭐️Recommended menu⭐️ Coconut coffee. Jeong Ji-young supplies beans to a lot of places and their beans are famous, so I went back and forth on whether to get a hand drip instead, but the "1.11 million cups sold" line on the coconut latte caught my eye so much that I ended up ordering that! (Also, I got hooked on coconut coffee during a trip to China.)

Another thing that surprised me: pregnant customers get a free swap to decaf! That level of thoughtfulness really got me — (a close friend of mine got pregnant recently, so I've started noticing this kind of detail a lot more).

Which desserts were still out at 6pm?

The dessert case has cakes and a variety of cookies! Since it's fall, the Earl Grey fig cake really caught my eye!! I'd seen Jeong Ji-young's strawberry cake at Starfield before and I still remember how packed it was with fruit — and sure enough, the fig cake was just as loaded.

They really had such a wide variety of desserts! Even though we visited around 6pm, there was still plenty on offer.

While our drinks were being made, we wandered around waiting to head upstairs and grab a seat! From beans to hats to keyrings, cups, ballpoint pens — there was such a huge variety of merch that it was genuinely fun just to look around!

Isn't the Janganmun Gate Lego set so cute?! I'm going to a housewarming this weekend and was debating what gift to bring — I should have just bought that!

We took our drinks up to the second floor, and the seating was so spacious with sunlight pouring in — it was really pretty.

How does the coconut coffee taste, and can you tell the decaf apart?

Finally, today's star! The coconut coffee.

The foam is such a highlight here?! It finishes with a slightly bitter note right at the end, so the latte doesn't feel heavy at all and the aftertaste is really clean — I loved that!

I switched one cup to decaf, and even so, I could barely tell the difference in taste — that made me even happier! (Personally, I think there are way too many bad-tasting decafs out there ㅠㅠ) If caffeine doesn't agree with you, or you're visiting late and want to switch to decaf, I highly recommend it!

Ending a Suwon Haenggung-dong food-and-date course at Jeong Ji-young Coffee sounds perfect! A café is basically a must-have stop on any date course, right?! Since it's right at the start of Haengridan-gil, it works well whether you put it at the beginning or the end of your route, and with its wide range of desserts and large scale, it's a great choice!! Best of all, since it's such a big café, there's a good chance you'll find a seat even on a busy weekend in Haenggung-dong — so I'd really recommend it to anyone worried about that.
