Daegu Korean restaurant for two: Uldong Bossam's medium bossam

On a Saturday afternoon in early September, I visited Uldong Bossam (울동보쌈) in Gyodong, Jung-gu, Daegu. Two of us ordered the medium Uldong Bossam and ate it with side dishes, ssam vegetables, and doenjang jjigae.

Where is Uldong Bossam, and when does it open?

The address is 279 Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil, first floor, Jung-gu, Daegu. The hours listed at the time of my visit were 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The exterior was decorated mainly with natural wood. Its classic-looking façade caught my eye.

The sign had a clean design that matched the mood of the exterior.

Are there seats for solo diners and facilities for children?

There were tables and potted plants by the window. I liked the fresh, green feeling created by the plants around the windows.

There were also counter-style seats directly in front of the kitchen. They looked suitable for eating alone, and the interior and tables were clean.

The other tables were arranged neatly as well.

Customer aprons were available in several parts of the interior, which had a traditional Korean atmosphere.

There was a high chair in one corner of the restaurant. I thought families dining with children could use it. The traditional furniture and ceramics also suited the interior.

The restroom was inside the restaurant, so it was convenient to use.

How was the medium bossam portion for two people?

The food menu was presented as a single bossam option. We ordered the medium Uldong Bossam.

When it arrived, the amount of bossam felt larger than it looked in the photos. It was enough for the two of us.

For drinks, we ordered cider and cola.

What comes with the bossam?

The bossam came with various side dishes, ssam vegetables, and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). The stew tasted deep and rich.

Ground sesame salt also came in a small mortar. The way to eat it was to crush the sesame seeds finely, then add soy sauce and enjoy it with the food.

How did the pork and rice taste?

The rice suited me especially well. I liked the taste so much that I ate three bowls by myself.

The bossam pork was tender and soft. I did not notice any unpleasant smell while eating it, and the flavor was mild. I liked wrapping it in perilla leaves and lettuce, and it suited my preference for suyuk (boiled pork).
