Daegu Airport shabu-shabu with takeaway coffee: Shabu20

Shabu20 is such a well-known shabu-shabu chain, right? I even order delivery from time to time. Today, I visited Shabu20 in Bokhyeon-dong, Daegu. I was looking for somewhere to eat near Daegu Airport, Isiapolis, or the north gate of Kyungpook National University, so I stopped by. As I passed the large building, the restaurant itself was quite big and naturally caught my eye.

Most of all, it was convenient to visit by car because there is a spacious dedicated parking lot.

It felt like a great place for anyone looking for somewhere to eat near Daegu Airport, or for a restaurant with easy parking around the north gate of Kyungpook National University or Bokhyeon-dong.

A stylish restaurant interior

When I walked in, I was welcomed by a really pretty interior with a stylish atmosphere.

Everything felt neat, and above all, the areas where the food was set out were clearly divided. Meat in one area, vegetables in another, and sauces and side dishes each had their own section.

Even though it was my first visit, I never got confused about where to pick up what. When a self-bar is large, people can sometimes crowd into one spot and it gets hectic, but the flow here was more comfortable than I expected.

How did I enjoy the unlimited beef shabu-shabu?

You simply pick up the meat from the meat station like this. I had beef shabu-shabu that day and chose a half-and-half broth.

Being able to alternate between two flavors instead of having just one broth the whole time definitely kept me from getting tired of it. And it is not the kind of all-you-can-eat meal where you only keep going back for meat; vegetables for the shabu-shabu, noodles, and sauces were all neatly separated as well. There were many kinds of vegetables, plus noodles and side dishes ready to enjoy.

The vegetables were fresh overall, so they had a nice texture once cooked in the shabu-shabu.

The meat was prepared separately too, so I could take as much as I wanted. Another nice thing was being able to keep changing up the combinations however I liked.

At first I had the meat and vegetables in the broth, then tried wrapping them like Vietnamese spring rolls, and mixed the sauces differently for another flavor.

I went there for shabu-shabu, but as you eat, it is surprisingly fun to try this and that combination.

That is seriously welcome news for anyone who wants a cold glass of beer with their shabu-shabu!

At all-you-can-eat restaurants, I usually expect drinks or alcohol to cost extra, but beer is included here, making it easy to enjoy with the meal without feeling burdened. There was a really varied drink selection too. It is set up for everyone of all ages to enjoy. Even the name of the water dispenser was adorably chosen. It looked like a good spot not only for a family meal, but also for dining with friends or meeting up as a group.

A generous spread of meat and vegetables

I piled up a generous tableful and enjoyed it. I was really full, and it tasted great too. I loaded up on meat and vegetables, then added noodles as well.

Switching between sauces, I suddenly realized I had eaten quite a filling meal. The vegetables were fresh, so they were easy to enjoy with the meat without feeling heavy.
