This family dinner at Dongbaek Hanokjip covered pork belly, Iberico pork jowl and galmaegisal (pork skirt meat), grilled over charcoal, and the galmaegisal was good enough that one more pack came from the butcher counter. I was trying to figure out where to take the family for dinner and remembered that the meat quality at Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant was pretty great last time I went, so we went back!

Why go back to Dongbaek Hanokjip in Yongin?

The meat is still in great shape. The galmaegisal (skirt meat) was so legit that we bought an extra pack and grilled it up too, haha. The restaurant's own parking lot is nice and roomy too, so it was perfect for a Dongbaek-dong family gathering. ෆ

We left with full bellies, so let me walk you through the day in detail. Let's go 〰️

Exterior of Dongbaek Hanokjip near Eojeong Station

We just followed the navigation by car, and since it's near Eojeong Station, even first-timers should be able to find it easily.

Dedicated free parking lot behind the building

Parking: free dedicated lot behind the building

The spacious dedicated parking area behind the building was what I liked most. Being able to park for free without any hassle put me in a good mood the moment we got out of the car. A Giheung BBQ spot with zero parking stress!

BBQ restaurant interior with large tables

Inside Dongbaek Hanokjip: tables and seat spacing

Walking in, the interior was pretty spacious and open. The tables themselves are large and the seats are spaced generously apart. You can eat without worrying about the noise around you, and there's no cramped feeling at all — perfect for taking your parents.

Self-serve drink and alcohol fridge

On one side there's a fridge with drinks and alcohol. It's a self-serve system where you grab what you want yourself.

Private restroom inside the restaurant

There's also a private restroom inside the restaurant, kept very clean.

Fabric deodorizer spray provided near the exit

There was even fabric deodorizer spray set out for you to use on your clothes on your way out — I could really feel the owner's thoughtfulness!

Picking your own cuts at the butcher counter

Entrance to the butcher counter in the pick-your-own-meat system

This is one of the Dongbaek, Yongin BBQ spots with a butcher-restaurant system. You go to the showcase butcher counter, look at the cuts you want, pick them yourself, and bring them back to grill.

Being able to check the marbling and freshness with your own eyes before taking it really builds trust! The color was such a clear, deep red and everything looked so fresh that it took us a while to decide.

(A happy dilemma..)

Hand-picked pork belly, galmaegisal, and Iberico pork jowl meat

Our picks that day were pork belly and galmaegisal (skirt meat). We also loaded up on juicy Iberico pork jowl meat for variety. Every pack has the weight and price clearly labeled, so it's really easy to pick and choose within your budget!

Pork belly, Iberico jowl and galmaegisal on the charcoal grill

Back at the table, as soon as the charcoal heated up, the pork belly went on first. With a sizzle, the charcoal smoke soaked right in! The pork belly had a really golden ratio of lean meat to fat. That savory smell filled the air as it cooked.

The Iberico pork jowl meat had that distinctive crisp texture and savory flavor spreading pleasantly through every bite — it was genuinely fun to chew.

The star cut: galmaegisal, and one more pack

The clear star of the day was the galmaegisal (skirt meat)..!!! Not too dry, chewy, and packed with meaty flavor, it was seriously... ෆ It had a different charm entirely from the pork belly and jowl meat. Everyone agreed it was too good.

The extra pack of galmaegisal bought afterward

So we immediately ran back to the butcher counter and bought another pack to grill, haha.

Bibim naengmyeon received through the review event

Review-event bibim naengmyeon and doenjang stew

While we were busy grilling away, I spotted a review event! Participating got you free bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). I signed up right away, and the spicy-tangy sauce cut through the greasiness of the meat perfectly — an amazing pairing. If you're headed there, definitely join and try it!! ෆ

Doenjang stew ordered alongside the meal

I also ordered doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) to round things out! (⌯´⤙`⌯) Their stews are great too, so make sure to try one. Revisiting this Eojeong Station BBQ spot, Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant, after a while, the meat quality was still just as good, and the whole family left satisfied.
