I don't know why I crave meat so much every Friday evening haha. This time we went out for Korean BBQ with the family after a while.

What kind of Korean BBQ is Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant?
The place I visited was Dongbaek Hanokjip Charcoal Grill Butcher Restaurant in Dongbaek, Giheung, Yongin! Most BBQ places these days have a fixed menu, but since this is a butcher-style restaurant, you can pick exactly the meat you want to eat — I really liked that :)

True to its name, the space has a slight hanok (traditional Korean house) feel, so it's a bit more comfortable and atmospheric than a typical BBQ place! Good for a family dinner out, and also nice to visit with meat lovers :)

Picking your own meat and paying by barcode at Dongbaek Hanokjip
What I liked best about Dongbaek Hanokjip was definitely being able to pick the meat myself haha. Packaged cuts are laid out in the store, and you just pick up whatever you want~ We chose galmaegisal, pork neck, and a few kinds of hanwoo that day^^

Being able to choose the cut you feel like eating that day, rather than just picking one off a menu, was so much more fun haha.

There's also the fun of deciding — pork neck today, or galmaegisal?

Once you've picked your meat, you scan the barcode at the counter, pay, and bring it back to your table to grill yourself! It's a system that's easy to use even for first-timers at a butcher-style restaurant^^

Self bar at Dongbaek Hanokjip: side dishes and wrap greens
There's also a self bar on one side of Dongbaek Hanokjip~ It comes with basic side dishes like salad and seasoned bean sprouts, and I especially loved the salad and bean sprouts so much that I kept going back for more while eating haha.

Lettuce was also available at the self bar, so it was great for wrapping the meat while eating haha.

It's always a bit of a bummer when you run out of wrap greens while eating meat, but here you can take as much as you need, which was convenient~

Is Dongbaek Hanokjip okay with a 16-month-old? High chairs explained
We visited Dongbaek Hanokjip with our 16-month-old baby, and since a high chair was provided, it was fine to eat with the baby too^^ Whether there's a high chair or not is kind of a big deal when going to a BBQ place with a baby, right ㅠㅠ

We sat the baby in the high chair again this time and ate together while grilling the meat~ Just note that the meat isn't grilled for you by staff — it's self-serve grilling^^

How the charcoal-grilled galmaegisal and pork neck tasted
Maybe because it was charcoal, the meat cooked faster than I expected~

As the meat sizzled over the charcoal, it picked up a light smoky flavor, and it was genuinely delicious^^ The subtle charcoal aroma rising off the meat was so good~

Maybe because we picked it ourselves, the quality of the meat was good too!

The pork neck wasn't too dry and was really tasty, and the galmaegisal had a nice chewy texture~ Above all, the meat quality was really solid!

My husband, who loves meat, said it was delicious too, so I felt like we'd properly done a Friday night dinner out haha. When it comes to eating meat, I prefer a place that's not too loud or chaotic and where the family can eat comfortably, and this place had a good interior atmosphere plus a high chair, so it was good to visit with the baby~
I think the biggest advantage of a butcher-style restaurant is being able to pick exactly the meat you want to eat! If there's a specific cut you're craving that day, you can pick as much as you want, so it would work well even for a family with different meat preferences~
