Late dinner jjukkumi set with scorched rice in Hanam: Jigueseo On
In short
Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is a perilla-oil jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) restaurant on Seohanam-ro 390beon-gil in Hanam, Gyeonggi. Arriving after work past the usual dinner hour, the fresh cod stew was already sold out, so the perilla-oil jjukkumi set for two at 26,000 won came instead, mixed with perilla oil and pollack roe and finished with the scorched rice from the stone-pot rice. The smoky char, perilla aroma and pollack roe make an unusual combination, and Jigueseo On is good enough value to come back to without a second thought.

I've been craving jjukkumi (webfoot octopus) for a while, so I came to Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch! Work ran late that afternoon, so I ended up eating dinner a bit later than usual. This place is known not just for great-tasting jjukkumi but also for being a real value-for-money spot with very fair prices...

Where is Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch, and its hours and parking
Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is located at 5 Seohanam-ro 390beon-gil, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is open from 11:00 to 21:00. Parking is very generous, with both a yard and a wide open lot out front.
We arrived after the usual dinner hour, and it looked like most guests had already finished eating and left.
The exterior and the lit-up outdoor garden

The building's exterior looks really clean. It honestly felt like walking into an atmospheric live-music café. The sign visible from outside made it clear at a glance that this is a jjukkumi specialty restaurant. I thought ₩10,000 per serving for takeout was a really good price.
They've also set up a garden out front, and as you can see in the photo, at night it's arranged so beautifully that it's great for photos, haha. The lights overhead really set the mood, and if you're passing by and spot it, you'll want to step in just to take a picture, haha. After eating, taking a short breather out here left me feeling noticeably refreshed.
Inside Jigueseo On Jjukkumi: seating and atmosphere

When I first walked in, I honestly thought I'd stepped into a café. The interior lighting and atmosphere felt totally different from a typical jjukkumi restaurant. The little decorative touches scattered around add some small everyday fun. One decoration in particular, highlighting the perilla oil this place is known for, stood out to me.

Review event: Han River ramyeon and free ice cream for kids
After finishing the meal, they were running a review event — and it gives away Han River ramyeon of all things. Han River ramyeon for a Naver review, haha! But I was already too full for the review event to really tempt me... haha.
Still, next time I should pace my meal so I can go for the Han River ramyeon. Kids also get free ice cream, so it seems like a great spot for family meals too.
The menu at Jigueseo On, and the sold-out fresh cod stew

The perilla-oil jjukkumi set is this restaurant's signature dish, but the fresh cod stew was something I really wanted to try too. By the time I got there, it was already sold out... such a shame. I'll try to come earlier next time and go for it. The seafood pancake and pizza also looked like they'd be delicious.
Pollack roe arrives with the basic side dishes

As you can see, the sides include seaweed soup, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), jellyfish salad, and a green salad, but the unusual part is that pollack roe comes too. Mixing the provided sotbap (stone-pot rice) together with the jjukkumi and pollack roe is absolutely incredible.
The seaweed soup had clams in it, giving it a clean, refreshing taste. The broth seemed to have been simmered richly — the flavor was outstanding.
How to eat the perilla-oil jjukkumi set for two at 26,000 won

The way to eat the jjukkumi at Jigueseo On Jjukkumi Hanam Main Branch is: once the jjukkumi arrives, pour the perilla oil over it. Then mix it well together with the pollack roe, haha.
As you can see, the jjukkumi is plump and springy, and there's a generous amount too. The sauce wasn't overly spicy, but had a nice sweetness along with a good smoky char. Mixing it with rice, bean sprouts, and pollack roe is just perfect.
After finishing the rice, pouring water into the stone pot to make sotbap scorched rice really warmed my stomach up. Even if you're already full, you should really make a bowl of scorched rice by adding water to the pot — that toasty flavor is unforgettable.
Is Jigueseo On Jjukkumi in Hanam worth a late dinner?
I found a great jjukkumi restaurant today. The value for money is excellent, and at this quality and this price, it's a place I could enjoy anytime without any hesitation.
Pouring on the perilla oil gives off a great aroma, the smoky char really comes through, and mixing it with pollack roe made for an especially unique concept. The outdoor garden atmosphere is lovely too — perfect if you want to soak in the mood of a deepening autumn night. I'll be sure to try the fresh cod stew on my next visit.
