Today I found a seriously, seriously amazing dumpling restaurant in Cheonan, and I ran over there all excited!

On a nice-weather day out at Independence Hall, I stopped by 'Omi Omi Handmade Dumpling,' which is apparently super famous nearby! Wow, this place is really serious about dumplings. I was touched by the deep flavor of the handmade dumplings, and with unlimited refills plus a free cold noodle dessert on top... let me start this honest review of my belly-busting healing trip right away!
Where is Omi Omi, and what is the restaurant like inside?
Omi Omi Handmade Dumpling is located at 10 Dongpyeong 3-gil, Bukmyeon, Dongnam-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, near Sono Bell. It's perfectly placed if you're driving out to Independence Hall or the Bukmyeon area! The clean, tidy vibe you feel the moment you walk in makes it a total pass for bringing your parents or having a family meal out!

Handmade dumpling hot pot for 15,000 won with unlimited noodle refills
The menu has the handmade dumpling hot pot at ₩15,000 and the gopchang (beef intestine) handmade dumpling hot pot at ₩17,000! Since the friend I came with can't eat gopchang, we PICKed the basic dumpling hot pot! While waiting, we munch on the side dishes... we're hungry, okay. Anything running low, you just grab more from the self-serve bar!
The real best part is that the sujebi (hand-torn dough soup) refills and ramyeon noodle refills are unlimited...! I'm absolutely obsessed with sujebi.

What comes in the dumpling hot pot: shabu-shabu beef and shrimp
Alright, the dumpling hot pot we'd been eagerly waiting for finally arrived! Look at how full that pot is!! I've genuinely never seen a dumpling hot pot look this good.

On top of the fresh, crisp vegetables, there's a generous pile of bright red shabu-shabu beef, plump shrimp, and chewy glass noodles, so the moment I saw it my mouth just turned up into a smile! The savory smell of the simmering hot pot broth hit my nose and it was genuinely hard to hold back.
Fern-stuffed handmade mandu: kimchi dumplings and meat dumplings
Along with the hot pot, kimchi mandu (dumplings) and meat mandu came out too!! While the pot was cooking, we went ahead and devoured two of the already-steamed ones.
The biggest secret of this place's dumplings is that the filling includes gosari (fernbrake)! Usually when you think of mandu, you think of pork, glass noodles, chives, right? But Omi Omi's handmade dumplings have gosari in them, so there's zero gamey smell, and instead a clean, distinctly nutty, savory flavor fills your whole mouth!

The skin is thin and chewy, while the inside is packed full of meat, vegetables, and gosari, so one bite and the umami just bursts! The kimchi mandu is spicy and tangy so you never get tired of it, and the meat mandu is the peak of savory goodness — alternating between the two, you could keep going forever.

Finishing the pot with unlimited sujebi and ramyeon refills
Haha, like I mentioned earlier, the sujebi and ramyeon refills are unlimited... Torn thin by hand and dropped straight into the richly simmered dumpling hot pot broth, the sujebi is pure chewiness! And on top of that, dunking in the springy ramyeon noodles so they soak up the broth is the absolute best! Even when you're already full, it's a spellbinding course you just can't put your chopsticks down for...

They toss in some ramyeon too. Because we're carb addicts.

Free naengmyeon (cold noodles) to end the meal
And the fact that it doesn't even end there! Once you've thoroughly enjoyed the hot pot and the noodle refills, they finish it off by serving cold noodles (naengmyeon) as a free dessert! Can this actually be allowed...ㅠㅠㅠ
After eating the hot, rich dumpling hot pot, downing a bowl of ice-cold, tangy-sweet naengmyeon refreshed my mouth completely and made for the perfect ending! And it's not like the dessert naengmyeon was some afterthought either — the broth was deep and the noodles were chewy, so I was totally satisfied!

The dining room is spacious and comfortable too, so it's perfect for stopping by with the family after visiting Independence Hall!!

If you're out at Independence Hall and craving hot, comforting broth and properly made handmade dumplings, I totally recommend 'Omi Omi Handmade Dumpling'! The portions are generous and you can really feel the care put into it, so I'm planning to go back again soon!
