Pecan caramel financier at Lapins, a Janghowon dessert café in Icheon

I visited Icheon and wanted a coffee and dessert, so I stopped by [Lapins]. These days when I go to a café, I care about the dessert as much as the drink, and Lapins is well known as a dessert spot, so it was one of the places I'd been curious about.

My husband and I came on a drive to Icheon and stopped here after lunch when we started craving dessert.

Inside Lapins: a cozy white-toned café space

There's a parking lot right in front of the café, so I didn't have to worry about parking ✔️

Inside, it's a clean, white-toned interior 🤍 The space isn't huge, but it felt cozy and had a nice atmosphere.

What we ordered at Lapins: iced Americano and two desserts

We ordered two iced Americanos, a Basque cheesecake, and a pecan caramel financier.

The whole place is clean and just so pretty. 🌿 The plant accents were totally my style hahaha.

Looks like they have a seasonal strawberry tart too! The day I visited it was a fig tart, but I'd love to try it once strawberry season comes around 😸

How does the iced Americano at Lapins taste?

First, the iced Americano wasn't a strongly acidic style — it was easy to drink without any burden. It felt like a good match to enjoy alongside dessert, and it paired especially well with the Basque cheesecake.

The tastiest thing that day was, of course, the Basque cheesecake. It looked dense and heavy, but eating it, the texture was surprisingly soft, which was impressive. Cutting it with a fork gave a rich, dense feel, but it melted smoothly in the mouth, so I kept going back for more.

If you come to Lapins, you have to try the Basque cheesecake 🖤 It was especially good together with the Americano — the coffee cleanly cut through the rich cheesecake flavor!

My husband really enjoyed the pecan caramel financier. He loves nuts, so this financier tasted even better to him.

The owner gave us a plain financier on the house haha. I'm not a big fan of nuts, so the plain one suited me better 😻

Lapins' Basque cheesecake had a distinct rich cheese flavor and wasn't too sweet, which I liked. Desserts can sometimes get sickly sweet fast, but this cheesecake had just the right sweetness so I could eat it all the way through without feeling overwhelmed haha.

Who will enjoy Lapins in Icheon?

If you're someone who usually likes cheesecake, I think you'd enjoy this a lot, and it would also suit people who prefer desserts that aren't too sweet. These days big-chain cafés and photo-spot cafés are great too, but sometimes you just want a café where you can focus on good coffee and dessert.
