Janghowon café in Icheon: fig earl grey tart and red smoothie, Lapins

Today I'm reviewing Lapins, a dessert café in Icheon that I visited with my husband!! It's near our place so we stopped by, and honestly the desserts were sooo good... places like this deserve to blow up ㅠ!!!!

How to find Lapins in Janghowon, and where to park

There's plenty of parking right in front of the store, so it was easy to park!

At first the sign didn't say Lapins, just some other name, and I was like what is this? Turns out they'd just changed the store name!!! The address matched so we just went in.

Inside Lapins: white interior and the smell of fresh baking

The inside of Lapins has white walls and wooden chairs, exactly my vibe. I love simple spaces haha. The lighting was soft too, great atmosphere for a chat, perfect spot for conversation.

And it smelled like they were baking — the whole store had this rich, nutty smell. The second I walked in there was this financier?? smell and I loved it...

There was even a stylish little plant! That looks like dill to me, and this is the first café I've seen growing dill. So cute! Now I want some dill butter...

There's an indoor restroom too, and it was clean! (I really care about restroom cleanliness)

When we went, the owner looked busy — she was decorating a cake. Real craftsmanship..... and the cake was genuinely gorgeous ㅠㅠㅠ

What desserts does Lapins have on the menu?

Lapins' dessert lineup includes the fig earl grey tart (signature), classic tiramisu tart, Basque cheesecake, kirsch forêt noire cake, financiers and more! Since the fig earl grey tart is the signature and figs are in season, that's what I picked haha. My husband told me to choose too~~

The kirsch forêt noire had just come out so I hesitated a lot, but at that moment I was craving fig... I'll have to come back and try that one too!!

The Lapins menu in Icheon includes the signature Inryeok coffee (a drink that blends milk tea and coffee), Americano, café latte, cappuccino, vanilla latte, dolce latte, flat white, cold brew, decaf, apple mango smoothie, and red smoothie (made with 100% plum) marked as signatures, plus blue grapefruit ade, lemon ade, peach iced tea, chocolate latte, matcha latte (using top-grade matcha from Hadong, Gyeongnam), milk tea, plain yogurt, and strawberry/blueberry yogurt smoothies — such a wide variety!! I ordered the following >__<

How does the fig earl grey tart taste?

The fig earl grey tart pairs seasonal figs with earl grey cream, and true to its signature status, it was stunning to look at! I'd literally just eaten a full meal and this still made my mouth water ㅋ

Slices of fig were layered on top like flower petals, brushed with a glossy syrup — so pretty!!! The owner's dessert-making skill is next level... at this point she should open a Seoul branch.

One bite in and wow... so good. The distinct earl grey aroma had soaked into the cream, and the cake sponge was so soft. Since it's dairy whipped cream, it wasn't greasy at all and had real depth!!! The fig was sweet too♡

Red plum smoothie and chocolate latte at Lapins

The red smoothie was exactly as described — made from 100% plum, with that distinct tart-sweet plum flavor coming through!!! So whenever the chocolate latte got too sweet for me, I'd steal a sip of my husband's red smoothie, and we just alternated back and forth ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Tart and sweet, totally my style..💕

The chocolate latte was super rich. Perfect for when your blood sugar's low. It went really well with the cake too. The coffee looked good too ㅠㅠ I'll have to come back for coffee sometime!!!

Basque cheesecake and financiers to take home

Midway through, a close cat-sitter friend of mine invited us over, so we packed some desserts and a blueberry smoothie to go! Something this good can't be a secret just to me... we got the Basque cheesecake and financiers, and they were s.o. g.o.o.d. The Basque cheesecake was super dense, with cheese oozing out inside — so, so good. Exactly the taste I wanted! The financiers were crispy too, and you could really tell they didn't skimp on butter. Honestly I've been to a lot of big chain cafés nearby and been disappointed by the desserts, so finding a real dessert gem in Janghowon makes me so happy...

Is Lapins worth a visit in Icheon?

If you're looking for a dessert café in Janghowon, Icheon, you have to visit Lapins!!!!!!! The place is clean and has real character, the owner is kind, and every dessert is delicious!! A perfect 10 out of 10. Definitely coming back ^3^
