My parents' wedding anniversary was coming up and I was trying to figure out where to take them, so I went back to Donghae Bada Hoetjip in Dujeong-dong. Actually this was my second visit — I was so happy with it last time. If you're looking for a Dujeong-dong sashimi restaurant recommendation for a generous meal with your parents, or a seafood stew spot with big, chunky seafood, this review might help.

Location and parking at Donghae Bada Hoetjip

Donghae Bada Hoetjip is near Oseong Elementary School, so it's fairly easy to find. There's also a large parking lot right in front of the restaurant, which made driving there really convenient.
Packed inside even on a weekday
I didn't really notice this last time, but out front you can actually see the fresh fish on display haha. It felt like a nice way to show off how fresh everything is!
Even though I went on a weekday afternoon, there were already a good number of customers when I walked in, and by the time we were eating, the place had filled right up.

The interior isn't the typical old-school sashimi restaurant vibe — it's clean and feels like a regular restaurant overall, which made it a comfortable spot to eat with my parents.
What we ordered and the price

This time we ordered the assorted sashimi + seafood stew set for three, which came to ₩130,000 haha.
Generous banchan again this time

One reason I think this place is a good Dujeong-dong sashimi restaurant recommendation is that the banchan (side dish) spread is incredibly generous even before the main dish arrives.

Boiled pork, flounder, silkworm pupae, salad, pajeon (scallion pancake), baek-kimchi (white kimchi), seaweed soup, gim (dried seaweed) and more all came out, which is exactly the kind of spread parents love.

This generous spread was exactly why my dad was so happy last time too.
Thick, fresh assorted sashimi
The assorted sashimi came out the same as last time.
There's tuna, flounder, and several other types of sashimi, and the slices aren't thin at all — they're cut pretty thick. Coming back for a second visit, I really felt that the biggest strength of Donghae Bada Hoetjip is how fresh the fish itself is.
The texture was chewy yet springy, and the thick cuts made for a satisfying bite.

The tuna was my favorite of all. It's already delicious plain, but dip it lightly in sesame oil sauce and wrap it in gim, and the nuttiness added makes it hard to stop reaching for more haha.
A seafood stew packed with big, chunky seafood

Last time I had the braised seafood, but this time my parents wanted seafood stew, so we went with that. Since it was their anniversary, the menu choices were fully theirs to make haha.

Shrimp, octopus, abalone, crab — basically all the ingredients you want to see in a seafood stew were in there.

What I liked most wasn't just the variety — each piece was genuinely big!

The shrimp, octopus, and abalone were all big enough to catch your eye right away, so it looked great before we even tasted it. If you're looking for a seafood stew restaurant in Dujeong-dong that's generously loaded with seafood, I think this would be pretty satisfying.
They prep the seafood for you
A staff member also came by to prep the seafood so it's easy to eat.
Seafood stew can taste great but still be a bit of a hassle if you have to grab scissors and cut everything up yourself before eating — having it prepped for us made it much easier to just dig in.

How spicy is the broth?
The broth isn't intensely spicy — it's more of a moderately spicy-and-savory, refreshing style.

My parents don't handle spicy food that well, but they ate it comfortably without any trouble, so the seafood stew definitely wasn't heavily spicy.

This is what it looks like fully cooked! The broth has so much flavor drawn out from the seafood that you keep wanting more. I'm not usually a big soju drinker, but this had me craving one haha. It's definitely a good Dujeong-dong sashimi restaurant recommendation where you can enjoy both sashimi and cooked seafood dishes together.
Naver review event: free snow crab tempura

And I took part in the review event again this time! If you leave a Naver receipt review, you get snow crab tempura as a free service item. I actually thought the review-event dish might come out small, but the pieces were a decent size and there were a full 4 of them, so I'd definitely recommend taking part haha.
Final thoughts on Donghae Bada Hoetjip in Dujeong-dong
This was my second visit to Donghae Bada Hoetjip. If you're looking for a place to take family out to eat in Dujeong-dong, or want to enjoy sashimi and seafood stew in one meal, it's a solid Dujeong-dong sashimi restaurant recommendation!
