Gang Galbitang next to Bujeon Market is a great solo-dining spot in Seomyeon, located behind the officetel commercial area, across from Bujeon Market. Parking is always such a hassle whenever I look for a place to eat in Seomyeon, but Gang Galbitang was easy to visit since they support 30 minutes at the nearby Blue Parking Lot.

Inside Gang Galbitang Seomyeon: plenty of tables for solo diners

This galbitang restaurant near Bujeon Market has tables for 4 and 6 people, but it's also laid out with lots of solo tables, making it a very comfortable place to eat alone.

Kiosk ordering and the Gang Galbitang menu

You order via kiosk at Gang Galbitang, but if the kiosk feels tricky, staff at the counter are ready to help, so it's welcoming for older folks visiting Bujeon Market too. The menu at this breakfast-friendly Seomyeon restaurant includes galbitang, spicy galbitang, galbi noodles, galbi gukbap, spicy galbi gukbap, and arongsatae suyuk (boiled beef shank), with 3 spice levels for the spicy dishes.

One tray per person and the self-bar side dishes

I was first surprised by how neatly Gang Galbitang arranges the galbitang and side dishes on an individual tray for each diner,

and then surprised a second time by the huge bowl of galbitang and the amount of rice. Everything is set up for personal use — chojeokjam (Chinese artichoke) pickles, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), garlic, chili, ssamjang, a special soy sauce, tongs, scissors, and utensils. This clean, tidy Gang Galbitang

also lets you grab extra sides from the self-bar, which even has mumallaengi (dried radish strips) — if you're a fan, head straight there for your sides.

Galbitang broth and glass noodles, best left plain

The galbitang here has plenty of rib meat still attached and includes glass noodles, exactly the style my partner Ddini loves. The broth, simmered fresh in-store every day, was rich — there was a container of dadaegi (chili paste) in the fridge, but honestly you don't need to add anything at all, the flavor as-is was excellent.

Spicy galbitang with Jeju jungmyeon noodles added

Gang Galbitang Seomyeon's spicy galbitang adds bean sprouts and radish to a spicy broth for a refreshing kick — I'd strongly recommend it for a Seomyeon hangover breakfast.

Since Ddini loves noodles, we added Jeju jungmyeon noodles to the spicy galbitang. These noodles are actually shipped directly from Jeju — plump, with a great chewy texture that pairs perfectly with the galbitang broth. A real hidden gem.

Ribs that slide off the bone and the house soy sauce

The ribs at this Seomyeon galbitang spot are so tender they slip right off the bone with just a light push, making them easy to trim,

and dipping the neatly cut pieces into the special soy sauce adds a clean finish that makes the tender rib meat even more delicious.

I kept marveling at the clean spiciness of the spicy galbitang broth at this Bujeon Market restaurant, Gang Galbitang Seomyeon.
