Seomyeon, Busan suyuk restaurant with a mini brazier: Gang Galbitang

Haven't been to Gang Galbitang in Seomyeon in a while, so I went for a solo lunch! Here's my honest review of the visit!

Where is Gang Galbitang Seomyeon, and what are its hours?

Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is on the 1st floor at 33 Saessak-ro, Busanjin-gu, Busan. It's open daily 09:20-21:00, with a break from 15:00-16:00 and last order at 20:20.

Went for a solo meal on a drizzly day..^^ Gang galbitang made fresh every morning with honest ingredients 👍 This place always has a wait during lunch or dinner!

Inside Gang Galbitang Seomyeon: single seats for solo diners

The interior of Gang Galbitang Seomyeon is fairly spacious, and there are single seats set up for solo diners, so you can always eat alone here. The place was full when I went in, so I didn't want to bother anyone by photographing during their meal — I took these shots after the crowd cleared 📸

The main menu items are gang galbitang 14,000, spicy gang galbitang 15,000, gang galbi guksbap (rice soup) 9,500, spicy gang galbi guksbap 10,500, gang galbi noodle soup 13,500, and aromsatae suyuk (boiled beef shank) small 28,000, large 41,000.

• Extras: jungmyeon noodles +2,500 / brisket +3,000 / full toppings (both) +5,000 / rice +1,000
• Drinks: soju/beer 5,000 / soft drinks 2,000
• Uncooked mealkit: gang galbitang mealkit regular 13,000, special 16,000

What I ordered — Aromsatae suyuk (small) 28,000 + rice 1,000 = 29,000 won total

Came back after a while and they had new items — cold iced oolong tea and iced matcha?! Would be nice to finish the meal with one of these haha

Got a moisturizing hand cream as a freebie for taking part in the Naver receipt review event ✨️

The table came set with bowls, napkins, salt, pepper, chili powder, water, and paper cups~

Is the small aromsatae suyuk enough for one person?

After waiting a bit, the aromsatae suyuk I ordered arrived! I added a bowl of rice to eat alongside it :)

I ordered the small size since I was eating alone, but the portion was generous haha. It looked like enough for two people to share as drinking food 😆

A mini brazier came out with it so I could keep eating it hot from start to finish 👍 Aromsatae is a special cut — only 2 pieces come from a whole cow!

Self-bar side dishes and free instant coffee

For extra sides, there's a self-bar — kkakdugi (radish kimchi), dried radish, doenjang (soybean paste), peppers, garlic, and even instant coffee for dessert ☺️

Grabbed just enough kkakdugi and dried radish to eat^^ The kkakdugi here is well-fermented, just my style..🤭

How the aromsatae shank tastes with the sauce and pickled onion

The aromsatae was soft and chewy, disappearing the moment it hit my mouth..🫢

I dipped it in the sauce and my nose stung — turned out there was mustard in it 🤣 So I skipped that and kept eating it with the pickled onion instead, a perfect match^-^/ Tangy and so good~

Finished off the aromsatae suyuk and the bowl of rice completely..✨️ Last time I came the galbitang was generous and delicious, and this time the boiled beef was tender and tasty too — 100% satisfied with what I ordered^-^

Just a note — if you order 4 or more gang galbitang mealkits, you get free nationwide shipping. Nice that it can be frozen for up to 3 months 👍

Ended up here by chance while traveling in Busan, eating solo — if you like galbitang or want a good solo-dining, solo-drinking spot, I recommend it!! It's popular, so be ready to wait^^
