Dog-friendly patio at Nampo, a Gyodong shellfish grill pub in Daegu

Today I'm bringing you an honest review of Nampo, a shellfish grill spot in Gyodong, Daegu — a pub in Gyodong that just opened a dog-friendly outdoor patio!

Nampo is a shellfish grill specialist at 238 Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, right in front of Daegu City Hall. Hours are Mon–Thu 18:00–02:00, Fri/Sat/day before holidays 17:00–03:00, and Sun/holidays 17:00–02:00.

There's parking for about 8 cars behind the front entrance.

If it's full, you can use the Gyodong public paid parking lot or the Kakao paid lot right in front of Daegu City Hall. After 6pm, you can park free at the Gyodong IBK bank or Daegu City Hall lots, and on weekends and holidays the City Hall lot is free all day!

We visited on a weekend and used the free City Hall parking!

Right in front of Daegu City Hall, Nampo was easy to find — a real shellfish grill favorite!

Since they specialize in seasonal seafood, live shellfish, raw shrimp, and shellfish grilling, the exterior really has that seaside vibe!

Can you bring your dog to Nampo's outdoor patio?

Nampo's outdoor patio allows dogs, but only at the outdoor tables — not indoors. So for a weekend meal out with my dog Tofu, I booked the dog-friendly outdoor section at Nampo.

We visited on a Sunday evening and every table was fully booked!

The tables were already set up in advance, so we could relax right away. There's also a street-cart-style zone, so you can just pick a comfortable spot.

Booking an outdoor table at Nampo

Each table had a tablet with a reservation note clipped to it. Nearly every table was reserved, with notes clipped to almost every tablet.

The outdoor patio also has a self-serve bar — a nice touch to have it outside.

Staff usually bring you what you need, but when the restaurant is busy, you can grab things yourself from the self-serve bar. Paper cups, chopsticks, tissues, tongs, small plates, aprons — all sorts of things were stocked there!

As soon as we sat down, Nampo brought out complimentary shabu-shabu shellfish noodle soup and pork cutlet. The spread of free starters was incredibly generous — shabu-shabu included as a freebie!

The vegetables were fresh, and the shellfish and noodles were all so fresh too — a very satisfying shabu noodle soup!

Before we'd even ordered anything, this shabu shellfish noodle soup already had us hooked — totally satisfying!

And that's not all. Believe it or not, pork cutlet is also included as a complimentary starter.

What comes on the 59,000-won medium shellfish grill, and how it tastes

Nampo's medium shellfish grill is ₩59,000 and comes loaded with fan mussel, scallop, clam, shrimp, and abalone. While we were still eating the shabu noodle soup and pork cutlet, our main order — the medium shellfish grill — arrived.

Staff first placed all the shellfish onto the grill pan for us. After that, we grilled the rest ourselves!

The amount of cheese is no joke! The cheese draped over the shellfish looked absolutely mouthwatering.

A generous spread of fan mussel, scallop, clam, shrimp, and abalone — the shellfish grill really delivers!

You can also grill dinner rolls with cheese on the pan.

It was plenty filling for two people.

Started with the scallop. The cheese was melted just right, and we dipped it in chojang (vinegared chili sauce) too!

Nampo really lives up to its reputation as a shellfish grill favorite!

The perfectly grilled scallop was seriously appetizing.

Using seasonal ingredients made everything even more delicious. They said fresh shellfish and seafood arrive every morning, regardless of weekends or holidays.

Can't skip the fan mussel — fan mussel is love.

The spicy sauce, cheese, and fan mussel worked together beautifully — an amazing combination.

The dinner roll with cheese and sauce was also a perfect pairing!

Ordering the medium shellfish grill also gets you 2 shrimp. Being in season made them even tastier — highly recommend!

And the medium grill also comes with live abalone! Chewy yet tender, it just melted in the mouth.

Being live abalone, it was incredibly fresh — truly the best.

Is Nampo worth a visit? Final verdict

Nampo, a shellfish grill favorite and pub in Gyodong, Daegu, just opened a dog-friendly outdoor patio! Being able to bring my dog to the outdoor tables made eating out so much easier. True to its reputation as a top Daegu shellfish grill spot, the seafood was incredibly fresh, which made for a very satisfying meal. Knowing they bring in fresh ingredients every morning only added to the trust. I'll definitely be back often!
