Inside Dugeundugeun Sutbulgalbi: atmosphere and seating

Maybe because it's newly opened, the place felt spacious and really clean, which put me in a good mood from the first impression haha

The tables are spaced generously and there are lots of big tables, so it's totally comfortable for families too — great for bringing kids along ❤️

Menu and how to order at Dugeundugeun Sutbulgalbi
You can order easily from the tabletop kiosk.

The BEST menu is of course the Dugeundugeun seasoned pork galbi! Raw pork belly, raw pork neck, even Korean beef (hanwoo) — the lineup is solid.

The menu is so packed it's a happy struggle to choose... They have a lunch special too, so I thought I should come back sometime while working nearby haha
What we ordered: Dugeundugeun seasoned pork galbi (200g per serving) ₩12,000 → 3 servings, raw pork belly (150g per serving) ₩12,000 → 2 servings!! We ordered galbi first, finished it, then added pork belly~! Just a heads up, the first order needs to be at least 3 servings~

White charcoal, side dishes and the self-bar
After ordering, they set up the charcoal first, and my husband, who is serious about meat, took one look at the charcoal and said "this looks like white charcoal — that's really good charcoal!" and got super excited haha The meat quality was already good, but with good charcoal too, he seemed doubly satisfied (good thing I brought him here!!)

Lettuce salad, cucumber salad, kimchi, garlic, ssamjang (dipping sauce) — the basic side dishes are solid.

Anything extra you need, you can grab as much as you want from the self-bar. Lettuce, perilla leaves, shredded scallions, and various pickled sides — perfect for wrapping ssam (lettuce wraps) haha
How does the seasoned pork galbi taste?
The first thing we ordered was the raw seasoned galbi meat! The owner apparently also runs a butcher shop, and you could really tell — the meat quality was noticeably different. Thick and clearly fresh!!

Golden brown together with garlic, the charcoal aroma soaking in — this is the moment that gets me most excited. As it sizzles and cooks, that distinctive charcoal smell rises up, and honestly waiting for it was hard... I hadn't even eaten lunch that day ㅠㅠ

One bite in and I actually went "whoa"... Usually seasoned galbi hits you first with a sweet, strong flavor, but here it wasn't an artificial sweetness — it was a clean, natural marinade that brought out the meat's own flavor.

Put a golden-grilled piece of galbi on some myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves), top with garlic and pickled peppers, and pop it in one bite~ I can't resist this combo... ㅠㅠ
Even the bone had so much meat left on it — total satisfaction...!! Gnawing meat off the bone at the end is the whole point of galbi anyway!!
Can you grill fresh samgyeopsal on the mesh grill too?
Right after finishing the galbi, we ordered 2 servings of raw pork belly! The pork belly had fine, even marbling and was nice and thick — comes as a set with king oyster mushrooms too.
Normally they'd swap the grill plate for a pork-belly-specific one, but since we wanted to taste more of that smoky flavor, we asked if we could grill the pork belly on the mesh too. The owner was a bit worried: "pork belly has a lot of fat, so if it drips onto the charcoal the flames can flare up~" but

when we asked anyway, they happily accommodated us, and I was so grateful ㅠㅠ Right on the same mesh we used for the galbi! The charcoal smokiness soaked in properly and it was so savory. Thanks to that, we absolutely devoured pork belly with proper charcoal flavor!!🔥

We asked for salt, wasabi, and fermented anchovy sauce, and they brought them right away, which made the meat even better haha I tend to eat meat with the flavor coming from these condiments, so little things like this really matter to me ㅠㅠ Dugeundugeun Sutbulgalbi has all the meat-eating basics covered 👍
The free sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) is the winning move

Honestly, the thing I really want to emphasize here is that the complimentary sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) that comes as a service item is insane...! Not too sweet, just spicy enough, and it completely cuts through the greasiness of the meat. This is free?! This combo alone makes me want to come back again ㅠㅠ
Service from the owner couple

Another charm of this place is the owner couple. Both of them are so kind — they kept checking in without us even needing to ask, making sure we had everything we needed. It made for a really comfortable meal.
Also, I noticed how thoughtful they were — you know that little red container of mustard and vinegar that comes with naengmyeon (cold noodles)? They had it set up so each person could take individually portioned packets for hygiene ㅠㅠㅠㅠ I'm so grateful a place like this opened up in our neighborhood...❤️
