As my medium-length hair grew out, the ends became heavy and my roots went flat, so the whole thing started looking messyㅠㅠ I thought, okay, I really need to do something with my hair now, and while looking through recommendations for hair salons in Gwacheon, I found the newly opened One & Only Hair Gwacheon Government Complex Station!! When I booked, I noticed designer Kim Seo-young’s title, “short-hair genius,” and her experience working at CHAHONG ROOM was listed too.

It looked like they would be great with current cuts and perms, so I made a booking :)

The first thing I noticed upon arriving was just how clean the salon was.

As you would expect from a newly opened place, everything felt fresh, and the space between the seats did not feel cramped!

The shampoo area was also separated so each person could relax privately, rather than being an open space used by several people at once. The shampoo chair was comfortable too, so I was not uncomfortable while lying down.

Consultation before my medium-length layered cut

Before the appointment, my hair had grown a little longer than medium length, with heavy ends and limp roots. I said I wanted to keep most of the length but lighten it with a layered cut, plus root volume and natural C-curls.

Designer Kim Seo-young first checked the condition of my hair, then recommended only the services I needed!! There was no pressure to add this and that, so I could consult comfortably.

A medium-length layered cut that kept the length

First, she tidied the overall length and added layers around my face and at the ends to make it feel lighter!

My hair was not dramatically shorter, but once those stuffy, heavy ends were lightened, oh, it felt completely different from the cut alone!

Especially after bringing my fringe back, the whole look changed completely!!

Root perm and natural C-curl perm

After the cut, she applied the solution and began the root perm and C-curl perm. She wrapped rods section by section, creating lift at the roots and natural C-curls at the ends.

One-on-one care from consultation to finish

What I especially liked this time was the one-on-one responsible designer system!

From the consultation through the cut, perm, and finishing, designer Kim Seo-young took care of everything. For about 3 hours, she focused only on my hair without working on other clients at the same time.

Don’t worry. I’m keeping an eye on it the whole time.

She said this even during the heat treatment, which really put me at ease haha. Since she kept checking my hair condition from start to finish, I could relax and trust her with it.

Thoughtful services during the appointment

I could use a portable charger during the appointment, so I did not have to worry about my phone battery!

They even provided toast and a drink, which was nice for a light snack while waiting! Free parking was available too, so I did not have to think about parking time or extra fees.

Lighter ends and root volume

Once it was finished, my previously flat roots had come alive and the ends had soft, natural C-curls that were not overdone! The length had not changed much, but everything looked far lighter and neater. When I got home and showed my husband, he immediately said I looked much younger and that it was pretty~!! She noticed my phone had no battery and brought me a portable charger before I even had to ask, which I was really thankful for :)
