I love lamb ribs, but the price sometimes makes me hesitant to eat as much as I want. Yangnam Yanghwa solved that problem completely. For 38,900 won per person, you can enjoy everything from premium lamb ribs to T-bone steak, with free meat refills on an all-you-can-eat basis. The atmosphere was clean and private too, which made it a great Yeongdeungpo date spot.

Where is Yangnam Yanghwa, and what are the hours?

Yangnam Yanghwa is in Yangpyeong-dong, close to Mullae. It's about 8 minutes from Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station or Mullae Station, and around 9 minutes from Yangpyeong Station on Line 5 — a convenient spot if you're looking for somewhere to eat around Mullae. It's open from noon to midnight every day, so it's also good for a late dinner or a drink.

Partitioned bar seats: does Yangnam Yanghwa work for a Yeongdeungpo date?

Yangnam Yanghwa isn't your typical yang-kkochi (lamb skewer) joint — it's premium lamb dining. All the seats are bar-style, and while it looked a bit narrow at first glance, the spacing between seats turned out to be wider than expected. Best of all, each seat had a partition sized to the party, so there wasn't much eye contact with other tables. It made the meal feel quite private and would suit a Yeongdeungpo date really well.

Yangnam Yanghwa menu: what the 38,900 won course includes

The biggest strength of Yangnam Yanghwa is the price and composition! The all-you-can-eat lamb rib course is 38,900 won per adult, for a 2-hour time limit. Within that time, meat refills are free, so you can eat as much as you like.

The course I had included premium lamb ribs, T-bone steak, fresh grilled seasonal vegetables and fruit, and dessert at the end. At most lamb rib restaurants, a single portion of shoulder rack or French rack alone runs about 35,000 won, so getting 2 hours of all-you-can-eat at this Mullae favorite for 38,900 won is pretty good value, don't you think?

Basic table setting for the lamb rib course

I liked that it wasn't just lamb ribs — you get to try several different cuts. Side menu items include seafood ramyeon, garlic rice, and bibimmyeon, plus a range of alcoholic drinks. I ordered the garlic rice, bibimmyeon, and an Earl Grey highball to go with the lamb.

Lamb ribs grilled by the staff: any gamey smell?

To start, a lemon liqueur came out as an aperitif. It was fresh and clean, giving my palate a refreshing start before digging into the meat properly. When the meat arrived, staff grilled it for us haha — lamb ribs are thick, so grilling them yourself isn't easy.

Since the staff grilled everything, all I had to do was sit back and eat. They explained which cut was which and showed me how to eat the tenderloin, sirloin, and T-bone steak, so I got to enjoy the lamb ribs properly. I'm pretty sensitive to smell, so I usually worry about the gamey smell when eating lamb.

The lamb ribs at Yangnam Yanghwa had almost no gamey smell, and were thick without being tough. The staff cut the grilled meat into bite-sized pieces and placed them on my plate — such a convenient place to eat at. I liked that you could really taste the lamb while still eating cleanly.

The sauces served alongside were salt, wasabi, spicy soy sauce, yogurt mayo sauce, and mint jelly — and I especially liked the mint jelly. The staff explained that at fancy hotels, lamb ribs are sometimes served with mint jelly, and since I already love mint, topping it with mint jelly gave a refreshing touch that paired really well. Eating only meat can get a bit much after a while, so they also grilled tomato, pineapple, and mushroom for us in between.

Are meat refills at Yangnam Yanghwa really free?

Once the meat was mostly grilled, the staff asked if we wanted more... and that's when I remembered — oh right, it's all-you-can-eat lol! Honestly, just the first round of meat was already enough to fill me up!! But if there's a specific cut you want, you can request more, and they'll grill more vegetables too. Really good value for 38,900 won, right?

Garlic rice, bibimmyeon and the Earl Grey highball

Whenever I go to a lamb rib place, I always order garlic rice, and this one was just as good. The rice was topped with crispy garlic chips that gave off a strong garlic aroma, and eating it alongside the meat filled me up nicely.

Bibimmyeon ordered as a side dish

The bibimmyeon was also great mixed together with the lamb — done! There were highballs available too, so I ordered one, going with the Earl Grey highball. The Earl Grey flavor was quite strong, which I enjoyed.

Finishing with orange sherbet

We finished cleanly with a refreshing orange sherbet. It ended things on a bright note with no greasy aftertaste, leaving me impressed by how well thought-out the whole course was, right up to the end.

I assumed Yangnam Yanghwa, being an all-you-can-eat lamb rib place, would compete mainly on quantity, but after trying it myself, the meat quality, the tableside grilling service, and the private atmosphere were all excellent. If you're looking for a Yeongdeungpo date spot, definitely check out this Mullae favorite, Yangnam Yanghwa~~
