Gangnam hair salon mid-length cut for 1-year damaged hair: Beorn Hair

It was around last fall, I think — I got a cut and a C-curl perm and just kept growing it out, and somehow a year had passed. My hair was SO damaged. I'd just let it grow without any upkeep, to a point where it was truly unmanageable, so I finally decided: no more, I need a cut.

So that's how I ended up at Beorn Hair Cheongdam! I booked with Designer Seonjun and went in for a weekend afternoon appointment. It's located in the Cheongyul Building in Cheongdam-dong, and parking is valet for ₩4,000. I took the subway, and it was really close to the station, so accessibility was great.

What was the interior like?

The inside of Beorn Hair, this clean and pleasant Gangnam-gu Office Station hair salon, felt spacious yet private at the same time. They arranged the flow so comfortably during treatment that I never crossed paths with other customers — it genuinely felt like a relaxing retreat.

Cut consultation and before hair condition

Designer Seonjun led the consultation, starting with my main goal — the cut! Through a really detailed, careful chat, I was able to explain the length and design I wanted. Along with the cut, I decided to also get the premium scalp care clinic that day. We agreed to do the scalp care first, then the cut.

They also gave me cold water and a snack.

So here's the before shot of my hair. It was truly hopeless, hopeless beyond hopeless.. even in photos you can tell how damaged it was ^_ㅠ The ends were so badly split that I could feel strands snapping just from combing.

How the premium scalp care went

Scalp diagnosis and scaling

They start with scalp care first. Before diving in, Designer Seonjun diagnosed my scalp condition — overall there was some buildup and sebum, and the parting area was especially red, ugh ㅠㅠ First, they said scaling would soften the buildup and sebum accumulated on the scalp.

Steam and that cooling sensation

Next came steam, which really loosened up the buildup deep in the scalp. Maybe because of the scaling product, my scalp felt incredibly cool and refreshing.

Massage extending down to back, shoulders, and neck

Surprisingly, this scalp care extended into a full massage from the back down through the shoulders and neck. They explained that you need to release the muscles connected to the scalp for proper scalp care — and for someone like me who sits all day at a desk job, it was pure heaven.

They loosened up my scalp too, and explained the products and treatments used along the way in a way that was easy to understand yet detailed — it made me feel really reassured throughout haha.

The final step of the premium scalp care — the nourishing ampoule scalp massage! After that, they went straight into the cut while my hair was still wet. Through a careful consultation beforehand, they asked in detail how I wanted the cut done, what design and length I was going for. I told them I wanted to cut off all the damaged parts and go mid-length, and showed them reference photos and videos I'd found on Instagram. Designer Seonjun looked at the photos and examined my head shape and hair condition really thoroughly before starting the cut. And the result was... drumroll please.

Ta-da~ I ended up with hair I absolutely love! The fact that my hair was so damaged I couldn't even comb it by hand was such a stress point, so I was thrilled to have all the damage cut away. The design was also so clean and exactly to my liking.

They turned my messy, overgrown hair into something calm and polished, like a proper city woman's cut.

I was so happy I kept taking photos, haha.
