Seongsu brunch restaurant with coleslaw refills: Seongsu Darak
In short
Seongsu Darak is a brunch and Western-style restaurant in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, within a 10-minute walk of Seongsu Station on Line 2. Sharing a table with a friend, the writer ordered three dishes at Seongsu Darak — spicy crab risotto, corn gnocchi and katsu sando — and refilled the coleslaw twice. The corn gnocchi is packed with sweet Chodang corn and is the must-order, while the spicy crab risotto cuts the richness of the rest.

Hi, this is Beanunu ;) Ever since I moved, I've been visiting Seongsu almost every week — and every time I go, I realize just how endlessly many places there are to check out in Seongsu, haha. So many Seongsu brunch spots, so many great Western-style restaurants too, and among them, a super popular one: Seongsu Darak (성수다락). Here's my review after visiting, haha.
Where is Seongsu Darak, and is there parking?

It's within a 10-minute walk from Seongsu Station on Line 2. There's no dedicated parking, so you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot. I checked and apparently they're open as usual even during the Chuseok holiday?

The entrance to Seongsu Darak was really unusual from the start — the door that looks like the entrance right next to it actually isn't; the entrance is the part styled like a picture frame just past that corner, and you have to push it straight open to get in.

Seating on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and the whole-party entry rule
Inside, Seongsu Darak has both a 2nd and 3rd floor, so it's a much bigger place than I guessed from outside. There are so many tables that even with a wait, seats open up quickly — the turnover rate was pretty solid. That said, everyone in your party has to arrive before you can be seated, so one person can't go ahead and save a table. Just something to keep in mind.

What to order at Seongsu Darak
The menu at this Seongsu brunch and Western-food spot! There aren't photos on some pages, so if you're unsure, you can check menu photos on Naver.

This is how you get to pick from pictures. After endless back-and-forth with my friend, we finally ordered the spicy crab risotto, the corn gnocchi, and — because it'd be a shame to come to Seongsu Darak without it — the katsu sando. Hehe.

Katsu sando: a side that eats like a main
First out was the signature and most popular menu item at this Seongsu brunch spot — the katsu sando! It's listed under sides, but honestly the portion is generous and pretty filling, so it wouldn't be out of place as a main course.

Of course, I like ordering two mains plus the katsu sando as an extra side and eating it all as a hearty feast lol. But if you're a light eater, it'd hold up perfectly fine as a main on its own too.

Piling the coleslaw on top is pure bliss. Note that the coleslaw is refillable — I basically always refill it at least twice because I like piling it on generously.

Corn gnocchi, loaded with sweet Chodang corn
So much delicious cream, so much sweet corn, so much chewy-crispy gnocchi — this is Seongsu Darak's corn gnocchi.

I really, really love Seongsu Darak's corn gnocchi lol. The corn cream itself is so tasty, and it's loaded with sweet corn — if you're a corn lover, this is a must-order.

Pile the sweet corn and gnocchi cream generously onto one spoonful and it's pure happiness. Corn purée, sweet corn, and gnocchi that's crispy outside and chewy inside — isn't that a combo everyone would love? This is a must-order if you visit Seongsu Darak, so keep it in mind lol.

How spicy is the spicy crab risotto?
Next up is the spicy crab risotto. As the name suggests, it's fairly spicy, which makes it a great addition to a brunch spread that can otherwise get rich and heavy — a solid combination.

It's loaded with crab, so the texture is excellent too, and since I personally love spicy food, I keep ending up ordering this along with the corn gnocchi as my default pair.
A promise: pop that egg yolk! Break the yolk and mix it in well, then scoop up a generous bite of risotto with crab and top it with the yolk — highly recommend. The corn gnocchi and katsu sando are truly delicious, but eating them continuously can get a bit much, and that's where the spicy crab risotto's kick comes in and completely cuts through the richness.

And to be clear, it's not insanely!! crazily!! spicy — it's more like a rosé sauce with just a touch of spice added, so even people who can't handle spicy food should be able to enjoy it just fine.
Seongsu Darak, a great Seongsu brunch and Western-food restaurant that's perfect for a date — highly, highly recommend it as a Seongsu date course.
