The writer ordered the popular salted taiyaki, the chewy Mammoth, and the new cheese bacon potato sweet potato pizza salted taiyaki (₩5,700) to share over lunch with her sister, brother-in-law and niece, and every piece arrived hot because Childish bakes to order. Signature photo of salted taiyaki at Childish in Seongsu

Looking for delicious taiyaki and salted bread in Seongsu? I stopped by Childish, a Seongsu bakery café where you can enjoy both kinds of bread at once. The space is spacious and pretty, making it a comfortable place to rest, and with so many desserts and tasty drinks, I got to have a proper bread-lover moment after a while. If you're out and about and want to try a different kind of Seongsu taiyaki and salted bread, give Childish a visit!

Where is Childish in Seongsu, and what is the café like?

Childish is a bakery café on the 2nd floor of 114 Yeonmujang-gil, Seongdong-gu. It's right on Yeonmujang-gil, so I ducked in when my feet got tired and my stomach got hungry while exploring nearby — the space itself caught my eye with how pretty it looked. The interior is clean yet spacious and comfortable, with seating that lets a group sit together easily.

Since this place is known for Seongsu salted bread, the interior even has a cute cart piled with bread as decoration. You could tell they'd thought about every little detail.

Drinks and sandwiches on the Childish menu

Childish has a wide range of drinks as well as bingsu (shaved ice dessert), which is great for sharing. The signature drinks are a coffee with marshmallows and a choco latte. Beyond that, there's coffee, slushies, lattes, and teas, so there's plenty to choose from depending on your taste.

There are simple desserts, but if you haven't had a meal, the sandwiches are a good option too. The prices are reasonable, so they're easy to enjoy without guilt. There are three kinds — jambon-beurre, red bean butter, and egg mayo — so you can pick to your taste.

Seongsu salt bread prices and the ₩900 mini size

Childish's basic Seongsu salted bread is ₩2,500, and there's also a rusk and a mini size (3+ pieces, ₩900 each). There are also bakery items that go well with a simple coffee or drink, so I grabbed a few.

Childish is famous for its Seongsu taiyaki. Their signature salted taiyaki comes in three kinds, so I ordered one of each.

Sharing lunch at Childish with my sister, brother-in-law and niece

We came as a group and shared everything — I had a refreshing tea, my brother-in-law had coffee, and my sister ordered a yogurt slush.

Check out the size difference between the basic salted bread and the mini salted bread. I'd never seen the mini before — isn't it so cute?

I also took video of the bakery items. Everything looks delicious, right, haha. We ordered a lot at this Seongsu café, Childish, basically making it our lunch.

I went with my four-month-old niece — she's still a baby so she couldn't eat, but I wanted to take a photo of her with the mini salted bread anyway. The basic salted bread is tasty too, but the mini somehow felt even more delicious since it's bite-sized.

Seongsu salted taiyaki baked the moment you order

Childish's Seongsu taiyaki is baked fresh on the spot the moment you order it. While we were eating, I noticed a nutty smell coming from somewhere and went over to take a peek — sure enough, they were making our order of Seongsu taiyaki right then. A lot of places pre-make them and just reheat, but freshly baked like this is so much better.

This is the newly launched cheese bacon potato sweet potato pizza salted taiyaki — ₩5,700 is a decent price, and as you can see from the batter, the size is big too.

Freshly baked-to-order Seongsu taiyaki, made with salted bread dough on top of that... this combination can't not be delicious, haha. It was baked golden and beautifully, and it made my mouth water.

Three flavours compared: salted taiyaki, chewy Mammoth and pizza

The number one popular salted taiyaki, the Mammoth chewy bread, and the new pizza taiyaki I mentioned earlier — all three look so tempting, don't they? Every single one looked delicious, so we shared them all.

It looks like a pizza, but cut into the cross-section and it's packed full with plenty of toppings. This combination feels really fresh yet familiar at the same time — like all the good things thrown together! No way it couldn't be delicious.
