Where is Hoyo Gudi Branch?

Hoyo Gudi Branch is an izakaya on the 2nd floor of a building near Exit 3 of Guro Digital Complex Station (Line 2). It has teppan dishes like okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and donpeyaki, plus all kinds of sashimi, soups, and fried dishes — it's my favorite Japanese restaurant near Gudi station.

This is the exterior of Hoyo, a must-visit izakaya near Gudi station. Hoyo is on the 2nd floor, but it's not hard to find at all haha. The exterior looks so modern and clean! There are signboards about various drinks out front, so you can really tell it's a spot specializing in all kinds of alcohol haha.

Inside Hoyo Gudi: atmosphere and counter seats at the teppan

This is the inside of Hoyo, an izakaya in Guro with a great atmosphere. The interior is really clean, and just like the outside, highball-related photos catch your eye everywhere!

(I sat at a regular table, but if you sit at the counter you can watch the teppan cooking happen right in front of you, which is really fun.)

Tablet ordering: how varied is the Hoyo Gudi menu?

At Hoyo, a great spot near Gudi, you order from a tablet at your table. You can also check the menu on the tablet! The range of side dishes is seriously huge! Teppan dishes, fried items, soups, sashimi, salads — there are so many options to fit your taste. There's guaranteed to be at least one thing you'll like... My group also spent a long time deciding what to eat lol. I always order the Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki and yakisoba, but this time I tried switching it up!

Drinks at Hoyo Gudi, from highballs and sake to ades

Hoyo, a recommended bar near Gudi, also has a wide variety of highballs and other drinks. Of course there are basics like highballs, beer, and soju, but premium options like sake and shochu are also available. There are also ade drinks so people who don't drink can join in too!

The free tofu starter and the Jim Beam highball

The basic side dish at Hoyo, an izakaya in Guro, is... tofu? The tofu is so soft and smooth, and it goes so well with the nutty sesame sauce and bonito flakes! The tofu alone is already amazing... I basically inhaled it the moment it arrived.

And then the drinks! My friend ordered a grapefruit ade, and I ordered a Jim Beam highball haha. I liked that you could choose what to mix with your highball too — tonic water, soda water, ginger ale, and more! (I chose tonic water and it was amazing.)

How do the yakisoba, salmon sashimi and donpeyaki taste?

In photo order: yakisoba, salmon sashimi, donpeyaki. I've actually visited Hoyo a few times before, and their teppan dishes are truly excellent... yakisoba, donpeyaki, okonomiyaki are all amazing. There aren't many places that serve donpeyaki (a folded savory pancake), and it's really, really good here, so I highly recommend the donpeyaki.

This was my first time ordering the salmon sashimi at Hoyo. I love salmon so I enjoyed it a lot, and even my friend, who's not that into salmon, said Hoyo's salmon sashimi wasn't fishy at all and had a nice chewy texture!

Is Hoyo Gudi Branch worth a visit?

If you're looking for a bar near Gudi, I recommend giving it a visit. I highly, highly recommend the donpeyaki and highball combo :)
