I'm a food blogger who documents everything down to the mood of the space and the food. This week I'm writing up my visit to Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch, a Japanese izakaya near Sinsa Station, where I had motsunabe, okonomiyaki, and assorted skewers.

Where is Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch, and what are the hours and parking?
Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch is at 15 Gangnam-daero 91-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, about a 2-minute walk from Exit 8 of Nonhyeon Station. It's open Monday to Thursday and Saturday from 17:00 to 00:50, and Friday from 17:00 to 01:50, with last orders at 23:50 (Mon–Thu, Sat) and 00:50 (Fri). It's closed every Sunday.
Parking is available in the building lot to the right of the restaurant and in the space in front of the building, but spots are limited.

Gobusi Nonhyeon in three lines

On this visit, Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch turned out to be a place where you can enjoy everything from motsunabe to okonomiyaki to assorted skewers in a warm, Japanese-style atmosphere.

A big Japanese-style lantern hangs outside the restaurant, so it caught my eye right away even on a first visit. Inside there are wooden tables, plus seats where you can look out at the scenery outside.
Motsunabe, the signature beef intestine hot pot at Gobusi
Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch's signature dish is motsunabe, a Korean beef intestine hot pot. The deep, rich broth pairs with savory beef intestine and vegetables — perfect on a chilly evening, or any day you want something hearty and warming.
As the broth bubbles away, the flavor of the beef intestine naturally deepens, making it great both as a drinking snack and as a full meal on its own.

Okonomiyaki served sizzling on the hotplate
Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch's okonomiyaki comes out on a hotplate, mouthwatering just to look at. The top is generously drizzled with a sweet-savory sauce and soft mayonnaise, with plenty of bonito flakes piled on.

Cutting off a piece, the outside was golden and the inside moist. The natural sweetness of the cabbage, the savory batter, and the umami-rich sauce came together well in every bite. The portion was generous enough to share among several people, and once I had one bite my chopsticks kept going back for more. It really drove home that hotplate dishes are best eaten piping hot — the soft texture and rich aroma while warm were impressive. The salty-sweet flavor also went well with a cold drink.

Assorted skewers you pick and share
The assorted skewers arrived beautifully laid out on a long plate. Golden-grilled meat was topped with finely chopped scallions for a fragrant touch, and some skewers had mayonnaise and bonito flakes added for a different flavor each time.
The skewers had a subtle smoky char, with nicely grilled surfaces and moist meat inside. A light squeeze of lemon cut through the richness and added a fresh note. Since the toppings and seasoning varied slightly across the plate, there was fun in picking each one and wondering, "What should I try next?" Sharing them one by one with my company naturally kept the conversation going, making it a great snack for gatherings too.

Ordering several dishes together made the meal even more satisfying
I prefer sharing a little of many dishes rather than focusing on just one. This time, too, enjoying the warm hot pot broth, the soft hotplate dish, and the smoky grilled skewers together struck a great balance of flavors.

After eating something rich, taking a spoonful of hot broth and then following it with a bite of skewer kept things from ever getting monotonous. Each dish had a clear personality of its own, which seemed great whether you're there to drink or to have dinner. Just looking at the spread of food made me feel happy. Taste matters, but who you're with and the mood of the place shape the memory just as much.

Honest review after visiting: good for dates and small groups
Among izakayas near Sinsa Station, Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch is worth checking out for dates, company dinners, wedding invitation gatherings, or a casual second stop. I also noticed it seems well set up for outdoor tables, pet-friendly visits, and small group gatherings. If you visit Monday through Thursday before 6pm, there's a corkage-free offer for up to one bottle.

If you want a more relaxed, quieter time, going in early evening is also a good option.
After visiting in person, this is a place I'd think about again
Gobusi Nonhyeon Branch has a wide variety of dishes and comfortable seating, making it easy to sit and talk for a while. What I liked most was being able to try everything from hot broth to hotplate dishes to grilled skewers all in one place.
If you like Japanese-style cooking or are looking for a different kind of dinner spot, this seems like a satisfying choice.

An izakaya near Sinsa Station I'd want to return to whenever I want to slowly unwind over good food.
