The hottest, best-value Korean dining bar in Seoknam-dong right now! I went to Imokase Hongsi, where an 'imo' (auntie) lovingly sets out a warm, home-cooked table of anju (drinking snacks) for you!!

An imokase course for ₩25,000 a person, with the anju lineup changing every week... there's no reason not to go haha. The drinks went down way too smoothly, so here's my honest review after a proper feast.

Choosing a drink at Imokase Hongsi to match the anju

Imokase Hongsi also has a wide range of drinks, so you can pick the right one to match that day's anju — such a nice touch!!

Side dishes, nurungji and beef and radish soup to start

Dongchimi, gosari namul and corn cheese basic side dishes

The basic side dishes were dongchimi (watery radish kimchi), gosari (fernbrake) namul, and corn cheese — perfect for a milder palate!!

Warm nujeongi served before the meal

Warm, savory nujeongi (scorched rice) — the perfect appetizer to settle your stomach before eating! They give everyone their own bowl, and you know how it is — you've gotta give your stomach a warm rice knock-knock before the drinking starts, right? haha (soju's coming soooon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Spicy beef radish soup simmering at the table

Spicy beef radish soup. The imokase course includes a soup or stew, and honestly there's nothing better for drinkers haha. True to its name, it was loaded with beef and radish — bubbling away right at the table, I took a bite and couldn't help but let out a 'kyaa~' haha.

The main spread on flower-shaped plates

Once you settle in and have a drink with the basic side dishes, the main dishes finally arrive!!! They come out on a big tray covered in flower-shaped plates, and honestly the visuals alone are incredible haha.

And the menu wasn't even all out yet, and the table was already full haha.

Imo's squid sundae-jeon (stuffed squid pancake), pan-fried golden and crispy — insanely savory haha. The squid was super tender and plump, and the filling was packed in so generously — totally different from what I've had elsewhere!! The beef sirloin yukjeon was soft and tender, absolutely perfect as a drinking snack!

Conchiglioni gochujang butter pasta. A meeting of Korean and Western flavors! Spicy, sweet, and soft — I couldn't stop eating haha. Best eaten hot, and it goes great with the cheese, too.

Today's secret menu: haemul-jjim (spicy steamed seafood)

🔥Today's secret menu, haemul-jjim (spicy braised seafood)! 🔥 The mystery secret item on the board turned out to be haemul-jjim!!

The secret menu item, haemul-jjim

Plump monkfish meat, mussels, and crunchy bean sprouts, all piled in — spicy and outstanding!

Haemul-jjim with monkfish, mussels and bean sprouts
A plate of boiled gabrisal pork with geotjeori

Gabrisal (pork skirt) boiled fresh daily, with geotjeori (fresh cut kimchi). The combo of moist boiled pork and spicy, crunchy geotjeori is genuinely fantastic ㅠㅠ! And it doesn't stop there — more anju keeps coming on extra plates haha.

Hongsi's signature house-made chicken feet pyeonyuk
A plate of autumn-season grilled jeoneo

Chicken feet pyeonyuk, autumn grilled jeoneo, cream cheese hogam and seasonal fruit

Hongsi's signature house-made chicken feet pyeonyuk (sliced boiled chicken feet) is chewy and mild, not overly seasoned, so the drinks just keep flowing! (This one's totally my type!!!)

It's peak season right now! Grilled jeoneo (gizzard shad). Getting autumn-season grilled jeoneo in this course is genuinely touching... the more you chew, the more savory it gets! Plump and fatty — you can't resist autumn jeoneo!!!

Cream cheese hogam♥️ is half-dried persimmon with cream cheese and walnuts — how could that not be delicious haha. Savory and sweet, it kind of tastes like it's detoxing the alcohol!! For seasonal fruit, we got shine muscat grapes and oranges!! A refreshing fruit finish to cleanse the palate! So good.

The extra order of shiitake squid fritters

The extra order: shiitake and squid fritters

I felt like I'd burst just from the course haha, but the drinks were going down so well that we added shiitake squid fritters as an extra side!! Crispy outside, chewy squid inside, with the fragrant flavor of shiitake mushroom woven through — genuinely the kind of taste that calls for another drink haha. We would've regretted not ordering it! (Imo's got real skill!!!)

Is the 25,000 won imokase course at Imokase Hongsi worth it?

For an absurdly good value of ₩25,000 per person, you get to try more than 10 seasonal dishes made with real care! It felt like someone was setting a hearty home-cooked table just for me, and honestly it was healing the whole way through haha. Since the anju lineup changes every week, I'm already looking forward to my next visit haha.

If you're in Seoknam-dong looking for a bar with great anju and a seasonal imokase spread, I genuinely recommend 'Imokase Hongsi'!!
