Lotte World Mall hair salon layered cut for growing-out hair: Heiro

Influenced by me, the bob evangelist, my sister also kept a bob for a few years, but she decided to try growing it out, and it ended up around shoulder-below length. For a bit of a refresh we went to Heiro, a hair salon in Jamsil, and instead of another bob she got a layered cut + volume magic that could complement her face shape even better, done by designer Koi.

Where is Heiro Jamsil Lotte World, and how do you book?

Heiro Jamsil is located in basement level 3 of Zeta Plex inside Lotte World Mall. Enter through the main gate, take the central escalator down to basement level 3, into the Ice Garden area, and

Heiro Jamsil Lotte World is right behind, on the right side, if you're facing the down escalator.

It's open year-round, and you can book through Naver before visiting. Each designer has different days off — we went to designer Koi! We visited on a Thursday afternoon.

I never knew there was a hair salon near the ice rink, but it's great that the location connects right to the station too!

Inside the Jamsil salon: atmosphere and facilities

Heiro, this Jamsil hair salon, is pretty spacious and the sections are well divided, which gave it a private feel that I liked.

With private single shampoo rooms and a scalp care room, it's a relaxing spot that's also good for just unwinding.

Hair before the service: thick, semi-wavy and past the shoulders

Her hair is on the thicker side, with a lot of volume, and semi-wavy.

She hadn't touched her hair in about a year and just let it grow, so it had gotten a bit frizzy from drying, and the hair had a wavy texture.

She originally thought about the same jaw-line layered bob style she'd had before, but designer Koi recommended a style that suited her even better! A layered cut that could reduce the visual empty space of a round face — and since she's also considering growing her hair out entirely, the design kept a bit more length too. Hair care was done along with the shampoo, and

the length was cut and adjusted to suit her face shape well. Her hair is so thick that most hairdressers find it difficult to work with, but designer Koi handled it skillfully!

Because there was so much hair, the whole thing took almost 5 hours to finish. Rather than rushing to wrap up on time, the designer worked with real care, even pushing well past closing hours — I was so, so grateful for that.

And here's the finished style! Compared to just a plain bob, it's more polished and feminine — and it prevents a problem bob-length hair can have in winter, when it can catch on thick coats and make you look bulkier. It has that face-framing effect without looking artificial, smoothed out very naturally!
