Heiro Jamsil Lotte World. Ahead of a family event this weekend, the thing I was most worried about was my hair, which I'd neglected for way too long! Looking for someone thorough to sort it out, I went to Heiro Jamsil Lotte World to see Koi, a designer known around Jamsil for being meticulous.

Just follow the signs marked 'Ice Rink' and you'll get there with no trouble.

The interior had clean white wood decor with a nice open feel, and it was very comfortable. I was shown to my seat and given a drink and snacks haha. Surprisingly private, and very nice!! You can choose from americano, mix coffee, boricha (roasted grain tea), green tea, or orange juice.

I went in just as I was — hair shampooed at home and dried about halfway, totally raw — for the consultation. It happened to be a relatively calm day for my hair lately, but I was so curious how much calmer it could get after this!!

I'd been getting by with an airwrap here and there, but there was no hiding my waves anymore ㅠㅠ I have so much hair that even a little growth puffs up like popcorn, so the treatment was overdue!

The cut first, shaped around hair volume and curl pattern

First, she did the cut based on my hair condition, the treatment plan ahead, and my usual care habits. I'd had a cut a month and a half ago, but because my hair is thick and semi-wavy, she still took off as much as a normal cut ㅜㅜ Just from this careful, thoughtful cut factoring in volume and growth direction, my hair genuinely felt lighter haha. Designer Koi's cutting is seriously the best!!!

How the volume magic softening stage went

As the softening work began, she said she'd apply the solution weakly and slowly, almost like marinating it in. Totally different from the rushed, blanket approach some places use~~~ I'd originally been thinking of a full magic straightening set, but considering upcoming treatments and my hair length, she went with volume magic instead. She understood exactly what I wanted throughout the consultation, which was so touching 🩷

While the heat treatment processed lightly, she even brought me a cushion to relax, and I could feel how much care she put into every little detail, so I got to wait comfortably with coffee and snacks haha.

Second round of softening. Factoring in how much softening had already happened, she applied it carefully once more, paying attention to the hair's direction so the volume wouldn't fall flat. I've had volume magic countless times, but this level of care was a first~!

Even during the shampoo, she rinsed slowly with mineral water, saying it reduces hair damage much more than rinsing straight with tap water. Iron pressing and the side bang perm

The highlight of volume magic — straightening with the iron began. Classic problem for people with thick hair: you start feeling bad for the stylist during magic straightening ㅠㅠ Even after cutting off so much volume, the pressing still took a while. She never once showed any sign of tiredness, and instead double- and triple-checked any spot she might have missed~~~

For the fringe, she did a perm so the side bangs would be easy to manage. With volume magic, you have to judge the result after washing it, not right after the iron — it relaxes more once you wash it. But I already loved it~ Getting butterflies over how insanely calm it looked!

Neutralizing and home care advice from Heiro

The big moment — neutralizing. Once you get here, the finish line is right around the corner!! She did the neutralizing carefully too, and told me about home clinic methods and why they matter. Her point was that while salon visits help, regular care at home is actually the most important thing!

I applied the home clinic product Koi recommended and waited a bit for it to soak in~ I ended up ordering it on the spot too and tried it at home — and the shine it gave was next level!!

She also explained, in a way that really stuck, how you need to blow-dry differently depending on the stage. Drying my hair and feeling it just glide smoothly — I hadn't felt that in forever haha. Beyond satisfied~~~

After the volume magic: self-styling on the day of the family event

It was genuinely clean, plain and simple. Because she kept adjusting the cut until she herself was satisfied, even after washing at home the balance stays right, and self-styling goes smoothly without any tangled, clumpy feeling haha.

Even my friends kept asking if I'd gotten my hair done, the before-and-after was that obvious! Once my hair got calmer and shinier, I somehow found myself acting a little more composed too lol.

And then, the big day of the family event haha. I just sectioned the ends and curled them with a flat iron in exactly four spots, and that alone gave me an easy, tidy look.
