Postpartum thinning cut & root magic at Heiro Jamsil hair salon

I hadn't been able to properly visit a hair salon since giving birth. I was so scared of postpartum hair loss that perms and dye were completely off the table, so I just stuck to clinic treatments to keep my hair in decent shape.

But I'm going back to work soon... and I have to look presentable for that... so I finally decided, enough is enough, it's time for a perm and a cut...!

There's also a waiting area, so if you arrive a bit early, you can wait comfortably with your phone or a book.

I showed a reference photo of the style I wanted. My designer was koi — warm, friendly, and really thoughtful about finding a style that would actually suit me. She also nailed the direction of my part.

Hair condition before the appointment

After pregnancy and childbirth, I'd left my hair completely neglected for a long time.

Pretty rough, right? Frizzy and way too much volume. koi said when she first saw it, she thought something bad must've happened to me, haha. That's how much of a total mess my hair was, ugh.

How the root magic straightening, bangs perm and thinning cut went

With a cool orange juice and a snack, the styling session began. Since I wanted to keep as much length as possible, we just trimmed the damaged ends and thinned out a huge amount of volume, haha.

I'd actually wanted a C-curl setting perm, but koi said that with my hair's history of magic straightening, a setting perm might not turn out well, so we decided to just roll the front and side hair and do magic straightening only at the roots.

I have so much hair that it must have been exhausting for her, ugh. But she still trimmed every single strand so carefully and sincerely — I was honestly touched.

Then came the heat treatment...

In between washes, she applied clinic treatment products too, haha.

The front and side rolls set beautifully, and I got gorgeous waves along the sides. Totally satisfied!!!

And I highly, highly recommend designer koi. She handled everything for me from start to finish — cutting, shampooing, neutralizing, rolling — and she really pinpointed what was going wrong with my hair. It was such a refreshing reset. I'm so happy with how it turned out.
