Solo dining at a Cheonan Terminal Japanese restaurant: gyukatsu and
In short
Izawa Cheonan Sinbu-dong Branch is a gyukatsu (Japanese-style fried beef cutlet) restaurant on Meokgeori 10-gil near Cheonan Terminal in Sinbu-dong. Eating alone at Izawa's bar counter, the writer ordered one gyukatsu, one mazesoba (mixed noodles) and a bottle of Cass beer, grilling each slice of beef to the preferred doneness and dipping it in garlic sauce and teriyaki sauce in turn. With separate bar seats and a Japanese-style interior, Izawa is easy for solo diners and works just as well for friends or a date.

Today Ruttokkang went looking for gyukatsu near Sinbu-dong terminal and ended up at Izawa!🪽

Eating alone near Cheonan Terminal: Izawa's separate bar seats
I visited alone this time, and it turned out way more comfortable to eat solo than I expected!

Especially since there are separate bar counter seats, it wasn't awkward at all to visit alone haha! Ordered 1 gyukatsu, 1 mazesoba, and 1 bottled beer (only Cass🍺). Order complete!🖤

Izawa's gyukatsu, grilled to the doneness you want
Being able to grill the gyukatsu to your own preferred doneness has to be the biggest draw, right haha. Plus, crispy outside, juicy inside — dip a piece in sauce and it's game over!🫠

Why order the mazesoba alongside the gyukatsu?
Just gyukatsu alone is no fun, so my second favorite menu item shows up — mazesoba (mixed noodles)~🍜 A totally different charm from the gyukatsu, and perfect for alternating between the two haha.
Burst the egg yolk and mix it all up~✨🪽
Once mixed, a savory aroma bursts out, and the sauce coats the chewy, bouncy udon noodles perfectly — full-on umami!🤤

Grilled just a little, the juices rise up and the savory flavor really hits!

Even solo, I'm enjoying this properly lol

Japanese-style interior and Izawa's two dipping sauces
I feel like this place would be great with friends or on a date too. The relaxed Japanese vibe makes it feel like a trip to Japan~ 🧡
The gyukatsu comes with two sauces — dip once in the garlic sauce 🧄, once in the teriyaki sauce 🥓, dip dip dip dip!!!!
A piece of meat with a clink of beer~🍻

My mood just lifts right up

Even the visuals of this combo should be illegal..😔🤎🤎

Adding Izawa to a Sinbu-dong date course
If you've made plans near Cheonan Sinbu-dong terminal and you're craving gyukatsu or Japanese food, I recommend Izawa~💋 Eat gyukatsu, then hit up the nearby accessory shops > photo booth > karaoke for a perfectly full date course 🖤 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
