Sangdong food alley pub for lasagna original: People & Peoples

When it's this brutally hot out, I keep craving a cold beer on the way home from work. A couple days ago I finished up some outside work and clocked out a bit early, and I suddenly wanted pizza and beer, so I called my wife out.

This time we went to a regular spot I've been to a few times with local friends — People & Peoples, famous in Sangdong for pizza and beer. Their creamy draft beer with pizza and lasagna is unbeatable.

Where is People & Peoples? The food alley behind Save Zone at Sangdong Station

People & Peoples sits in the food alley behind Save Zone near Sangdong Station on Line 7. It's a food paradise in our neighborhood — chicken, raw fish restaurants, eel, gopchang (grilled intestines), gamjatang (pork spine soup), craft beer, even outdoor seating everywhere along this strip.

People & Peoples is a 1-minute walk from the entrance, right at the start of the alley, so it's easy to find. It's gotten cooler in the evenings lately so the outdoor tables are set up too, but I still prefer the cool indoors, so in we went.

Oh, and parking is supported here. It's ₩4,000 an hour, but you only pay ₩1,000 — good to know if you're not drinking and just parking.

What's on the food menu, and what is the indoor seating like?

Here's why this is my regular spot — so many food options. Beyond the usual chicken, dry snacks, and fries, they're known for pizza and lasagna, so think of it as a proper pizza-and-beer specialist in Sangdong.

The indoors is nice and cool, haha. It's pretty spacious inside too, with 6-top and even larger group tables besides the standard 4-tops, so the place is already buzzing. Lots of locals come here, so I often bump into people I know.

They've got wireless chargers now too! My battery was low, so I charged right up.

What to drink at People & Peoples: Hanmac cream draft beer, 600cc

People & Peoples' signature menu items for pizza-and-beer in Sangdong are the lasagna, Ambrosia pastry pizza, and gambas al ajillo. Now that I think about it, I always order the lasagna and have actually never tried the pizza.

Lately when I come with friends we always order the set menu — 3 bottles of Terra plus lasagna original. Great value.

But today it's a date with my wife, and we both wanted a cold draft beer, so we ordered the lasagna original with draft beer.

To really enjoy pizza-and-beer in Sangdong, I recommend the Hanmac cream draft beer! The creamy draft pairs perfectly with pizza and lasagna. It's 600cc too, so it's a big one.

The draft came out right away, so we cheersed before the food even arrived. The cream was overflowing so much it looked creamy and cool just to see!

That cream on top filled my mouth for a good while. It slides in smooth, and then the cold draft follows... what more can I say! This is the flavor I wait all day for after work, and how I shake off the day's fatigue.

The best dish to order: lasagna original, 25,000 won

We must've both been thirsty — right after finishing our 600cc drafts and ordering a new round, the lasagna arrived right on cue. The smell alone was killer. This is People & Peoples' signature dish. I feel like the lasagna is never missing from my order.

The lasagna came out looking gorgeous — fresh out of the oven, so it's extremely hot.

It's made by layering lasagna sheets, ground beef, vegetables, and a special sauce. It's cooked to order, so it tastes even better. Honestly better than a lot of restaurants' lasagna. Highly recommend.

It pairs great with the spicy sauce and crunchy pickles on the side.

Cheers again with the beer! The properly creamy cream drips down looking so appetizing. Ahh~~~ that's the taste!

Lasagna served in 4 slices, with cheese that stretches

The lasagna comes pre-cut into 4 pieces so you can share it nicely. Scoop up a big piece and... the cheese just stretches on and on, an absolutely wild visual.

It's incredibly thick. Just one piece is enough to fill you up.

Fresh out of the oven, the lasagna is a total knockout just to look at. The smell of perfectly melted cheese seals the deal.

They cut it up for you with pretty Eiffel Tower-shaped scissors, making it easy to eat. Warm lasagna sheets, soft cheese, beef, and vegetables are all packed generously in, so every bite is loaded with different flavors.

Cut into it and you can see the lasagna sheets, bacon, cheese, all beautifully layered! There's real care put into making this dish. No wonder it's this good.

Add the special sauce on top and it cleanly cuts through any richness. Recommended if you like a bit of spice.

The food was great, the vibe was good, and we were in such a good mood we ended up drinking 3 rounds of draft. We were stuffed to bursting~ But we always walk out satisfied, and that's People & Peoples — my go-to pizza-and-beer spot in Sangdong.

Even full, I just can't skip dessert. We grabbed an ice cream cone at a café right at the start of the alley and shared it happily on the walk home. A perfect finish to the night.

For a casual drink close to home, with lasagna good enough that I crave it sometimes out of nowhere, People & Peoples is my favorite pizza-and-beer spot in Sangdong. If you're ever in the Sangdong Station food alley, be sure to stop by. It's genuinely my go-to.
