Where is Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu near Pyeongtaek City Hall?
Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu is a newly opened handmade-noodle kalguksu place on Pyeongnam-ro near Pyeongtaek City Hall. I was passing through Pyeongtaek on my way to work in Asan one weekend, and a sudden craving for kalguksu during weekend brunch time led me here.
Even from outside, it's clearly a huge restaurant.

Parking is free on the building's 3rd and 4th floors. It was past the weekend lunch rush, so parking was plenty available!

House-made noodles and ingredients on show at the entrance
From the entrance of Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu, you can already feel the pride in everything — from the ingredients to the finished dishes!!
Made same-day with Pyeongtaek local produce, cooked same-day, run on principle!! The owner's business philosophy — safe domestic ingredients and healthy cooking — makes this a really precious restaurant. I wish it were in my neighborhood..

Gompyo premium flour for noodle-making and a spacious noodle-making room right by the entrance make clear this is a handmade-noodle kalguksu shop. Hand-kneaded noodles daily, freshly boiled broth every day!

What the dining room at Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu looks like
It's an extremely spacious restaurant — a large-scale operation. The wide-open hall, rattan lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows give it an airy feel, and above all it's clean and well-maintained, with an upscale atmosphere.
Even though it was past lunchtime, the place was full enough that there was a bit of a wait. It's clearly already a well-known restaurant in Bijeon-dong, Pyeongtaek! It was nearly full, but the tall cobalt-blue sofas act as a kind of private partition, so you can still get your own separated space — comfortable for family meals with babies or kids too.

Private rooms for up to 80: can you book a company dinner or family event?
Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu has two independent large group rooms seating up to 80 people! With Pyeongtaek City Hall nearby, the space is roomy and comfortable enough to easily host government office or company group dinners, as well as family events.
Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu menu and the 2-person set
As the name suggests, there's the handmade Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu itself, plus bibim and perilla oil golddongmyeon, snow-flake black soybean kalguksu, napa cabbage dumplings, pear-leaf medicinal pork, and more — a varied menu suited to dinner as well as lunch.
If you can't decide among the many options, I recommend the set menu, which lets you try a course-like lineup at a reasonable price! You get to taste kalguksu, boiled pork, and cabbage dumplings all together! We debated too.. and ended up ordering the 2-person set!
Pear-leaf medicinal boiled pork (baeip yakseon suyuk)
Grade-1 Korean pork belly boiled twice a day with added Pyeongtaek pear-leaf powder. The thinly sliced pork is served in a warmer bowl, so you can eat it warm down to the last piece. Chewy pork belly texture with no off smell at all!!
And the napa cabbage kimchi served alongside is really, really delicious!!!

At the self-serve bar there's white kimchi, sour kimchi, and less-fermented kimchi to suit your taste.. they're all delicious, so make sure to try them all!!

Napa cabbage dumplings (albaechu mandu)
Instead of a wheat-flour wrapper, the dumpling filling is wrapped in napa cabbage leaves.. this is a real specialty too! Kalguksu plus dumplings could feel heavy on the wheat flour, but not with these cabbage dumplings!!
Crisp cabbage texture with juicy, kimchi-packed filling — a healthy flavor!
The main dish: mulchong kalguksu
And today's main event, mulchong kalguksu! Loaded with mulchong clams, dongjuk clams, and mussels, served with kalguksu noodles, Pyeongtaek Koshihikari rice, and fried rice made with an assortment of fresh vegetables.. and this high-quality seasonal fried rice is free and unlimited!! For kids who might find fried rice too much, plain rice is provided free for kids through elementary school age!
At every table, the owner kindly explains how to boil the kalguksu and how to fry the rice! Such thoughtful service!!!
This isn't your ordinary clam kalguksu — even the noodles come topped with carrot and zucchini strips, and the fried rice is arranged as carefully as a flower.. it really feels like being properly hosted! This is more than a quick kalguksu lunch spot — it's a place for a proper meal, and one you could take people you're grateful to.

Eat the dongjuk clams and mussels first.. then drop in the noodles! A 5-minute hourglass tells you when the noodles are done — a fun and efficient idea!

The premium-flour handmade noodles have none of that heavy wheat-flour flavor — soft and chewy, easy to digest, and truly delicious in the clear yet rich clam broth!!
Enjoying the kalguksu, then adding cheongyang chili and spicy seasoning from the self-serve bar turns it into a spicy seafood kalguksu finish!

Free unlimited seasonal fried rice
And finally! The seasonal fried rice. To think free, unlimited fried rice can look this pretty!! Piled high with vegetables and sesame powder…

Scraping it all up and frying it down.. the fried rice portion was generous too, and delicious, so we finished it clean!! Just a shame it's so far from home…
After finishing the meal.. if you leave a Naver review, they give you house-made dansul (sweet rice punch) or sikhye — also delicious!!!!! Make sure to finish with the review event!

Is Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu worth it for a group?
From using domestic local ingredients to daily-boiled broth, handmade noodles, and pork boiled twice a day — this Pyeongtaek restaurant has real philosophy and pride in its food! With two large independent rooms seating up to 80, it's ideal for group gatherings, company dinners, and family events. With its clean, upscale atmosphere, this is a healthy restaurant I'd strongly recommend for hosting guests, parents, or elders!
