Haeundae baby-friendly lunch, unseasoned sweet potato fries: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is a Western restaurant on the second floor of a building on Dalmaji-gil 117beon-na-gil in Haeundae, Busan. On a weekday lunch visit with a baby, the order was abalone cream risotto (20,000 won), seafood tomato clay-pot pasta (19,000 won), sweet potato fries (8,000 won) and an ade, and the staff brought a high chair and baby tableware. Asking for the sweet potato fries with the spicy seasoning left off and only cheese on top made them easy to share with the baby.

What a weekday lunch feels like at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch had about 4-5 tables during weekday lunch, so it wasn't crowded. I didn't manage to get a shot of the space with people in it, but even on a weekday lunch there were 4-5 tables haha. There was another family with a baby too, just like us — I felt an odd sense of camaraderie.

I don't live in Busan anymore, but I actually grew up in this neighborhood. It struck me how such a pretty place had opened up here :)

Ade served first at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch

Before the food came out, they brought the ade first. Oh, and the staff here were genuinely so kind..! This matters more than you'd think — it put me in a genuinely great mood ⭐️

After a bit of a wait, the food came out — and they brought it all at once, which I really appreciated. For people like me who post to blogs or love a good Instagram spread, this place matches that need perfectly :)

Abalone cream risotto with plenty of abalone in every bite

Bueokgan's abalone cream risotto (₩20,000) was gorgeous just to look at. The color and aroma from the abalone innards were great too.. When I tasted it, there was plenty of abalone to chew on and a deep flavor overall! I didn't realize abalone and cream could pair this well.

Seafood tomato clay-pot pasta: how spicy, and how the noodles are cooked

The seafood tomato clay-pot pasta (₩19,000) was piled high with mussels, clams, shrimp, and more seafood. The plating here is really something, haha. It wasn't a very spicy style, which was actually nice since it didn't sit heavy.

I'm not a fan of overcooked noodles, but the noodle texture here was just right, haha. The sauce was on the wetter side too, so there was plenty of it left to enjoy throughout the dish :)

Sweet potato fries topped with cheese only at Bueokgan

Sweet potato fries with the spicy seasoning left off and only cheese

The sweet potato fries (₩8,000) are the dish our baby inhales every time we come to Bueokgan. Just in case, we asked them to leave off any spicy seasoning if it's normally added — just a light dusting of cheese instead.

Freshly fried sweet potato fries are so good.. delicious for both the baby and me, and we cleared the plate, haha.

Bueokgan is the name that will come to mind when thinking of a great Western restaurant in Haeundae — highly, highly recommended for anyone who wants a meal in a nice-atmosphere spot with a baby, just like us!
