Gyukatsu sirloin and Kirin beer shots in Musil-dong, Wonju: Ichigyu
In short
Ichigyu Wonju is a gyukatsu (Japanese breaded beef cutlet) restaurant on the first floor of the Lotte Cinema building in Musil-dong, Wonju. The order was gyukatsu sirloin at 19,500 won with an extra egg, a mini curry and a one-shot Kirin draft beer, with each slice grilled 7 to 8 seconds on the personal cast-iron grill and topped with Isigny salted butter. The sirloin paired with the creamy Kirin draft was the highlight of Ichigyu Wonju.

While hunting for Wonju restaurants, I suddenly got a craving for gyukatsu (Japanese-style breaded beef cutlet) I hadn't had in ages, so I went to Ichigyu Wonju. The gyukatsu melting away with butter was fantastic 🥹🤎 After eating nothing but grilled samgyeopsal and beef forever, this felt like pure paradise. Here's my review, from the interior vibe to menu picks — let's go!
Where is Ichigyu Wonju, and what about parking and hours?
Ichigyu Wonju is a gyukatsu spot at 51 Neungna-dong-gil, 135ho, 136ho, Wonju, Gangwon, on the 1st floor of the Lotte Cinema building in Musil-dong. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:30 with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00, and parking is free for 2 hours.
- 📍 Location: 51 Neungna-dong-gil, 135ho, 136ho, Wonju, Gangwon, South Korea
- ⏰ Hours: Daily 11:00–21:30 (break time 15:00–17:00)
- 🚗 Parking: Available/free (2 hours)
The 2-hour free parking is great because you can eat and then wander around nearby without rushing. I went on a weekend afternoon and saw a lot of couples and families. Since it's set up with mini grills so you cook the gyukatsu to your own taste, it's also great for solo dining!
What is the inside of Ichigyu Wonju like?
Inside, Ichigyu Wonju has a wood-tone interior with beef-shaped light fixtures that give it a toned-down atmosphere. There's a personal grill at every table, making it comfortable whether you're on a date or eating alone.

First off, the entrance grabs your attention with meat imagery right away.

Before you even walk in, you can see the menu illustrated, which is really nice.

The interior is decorated in wood tones,

and even the lighting is shaped like Ichigyu's beef, giving the whole place a toned-down mood that's perfect for a date.

Every table has its own personal grill, so the two of us chatted cozily about how well-done to cook the meat — and before we knew it, each of our portions was already gone.
What we ordered at Ichigyu Wonju and what it cost
At Ichigyu Wonju we ordered gyukatsu sirloin for ₩19,500, an extra egg for ₩1,000, mini curry for ₩5,000, and one-shot Kirin draft beer for ₩4,000. Since I hadn't had proper gyukatsu in a while, I wanted to go back to basics, so I chose the sirloin.

- ✔️ Gyukatsu sirloin ₩19,500
- ✔️ Extra egg ₩1,000
- ✔️ Mini curry ₩5,000
- ✔️ One-shot Kirin draft beer ₩4,000
First, when you order gyukatsu, rice comes out separately, and you scoop small amounts into your own bowl and keep refilling, so it stays warm the whole meal — really nice. The rice was cooked perfectly too.
Gyukatsu sirloin (19,500 won): crisp outside, rare inside after 7 to 8 seconds
The dish you absolutely must order at Ichigyu Wonju is the gyukatsu sirloin (₩19,500). Grill it for just 7-8 seconds on the cast-iron plate and you get that perfect crispy-outside, tender-inside Japanese-style cutlet finish...🤎

If you go to Ichigyu, you absolutely have to get the gyukatsu sirloin.

The butter is also fancy French Isigny salted butter! It's the kind of butter often used in baking, and its aroma takes Ichigyu's gyukatsu flavor to the next level. You have to be generous with the butter, no holding back. That's how you get the perfect crispy-outside, tender-inside Ichigyu gyukatsu ✨
Mini curry (5,000 won): is it worth adding?
Ichigyu Wonju's mini curry is ₩5,000, and even though the portion looks small, it's actually enough for two people to finish two bowls of rice.

Why? Because you also have to eat it sushi-style — white rice with gyukatsu, salt, and fresh wasabi 🐷 It's my favorite carb combo too. To ease my conscience I ordered a soft-boiled egg for extra protein, being the food nerd I am 🤓
One-shot Kirin draft beer (4,000 won) with the sirloin
Ichigyu Wonju's one-shot Kirin draft beer is ₩4,000. Kirin draft is hard to find, so a one-shot pour is such a precious treat, perfect for a grown-up palate cleanser when you're thirsty 🍺

Wait, Ichigyu Wonju turned out to be a great spot for beer too haha. The draft was seriously creamy and delicious. It tasted exactly like the Kirin draft I had in Japan!!
On the day I went out to Wonju and happily feasted on gyukatsu, happiness wasn't far away at all. Meat is right in front of me 🤓🍖🍺
