What kind of place is Daegang? An outdoor Korean pub on Songni-dan-gil
Daegang is an outdoor-terrace Korean pub on Songni-dan-gil that serves sashimi made with fresh catch brought up from Gampo, including flounder and assorted aged sashimi. I suddenly craved fall's must-eat seasonal raw shrimp, so I searched for raw shrimp spots on Songni-dan-gil and found that Daegang — already famous as an outdoor-terrace spot — serves it too.
Fall is when shrimp gets really good, so you have to try the plump, springy raw shrimp while it's in season. Daegang is packed with sashimi dishes and savory Korean pub food — fresh seafood like seasonal sashimi, uni sampler platters, and striped jack, plus reasonably priced meal options like potato pancakes, grilled chicken, stir-fried roe and milt, and clam soup. It's a solid choice whether you're stopping for a first round or a second.
On a cool, pleasant day like this, drinking outside in the breeze beats staying indoors every time. If you're looking for a good-vibe spot for outdoor drinks on Songni-dan-gil, definitely give Daegang a try.

Where Daegang is and what the outdoor tables are like
Daegang is located on Songni-dan-gil near the Seokchon Lake intersection. Just walk toward Seokchon Lake from either Seokchon Station or Jamsil Station, whichever is closer. I visited late in the evening and the outdoor tables were almost all full — luckily one spot opened up and we grabbed it right away.

Indoor seating and reservation hours at Daegang
Daegang's space is actually quite large. The interior has bar-style seating and feels clean and tidy. Since it's known as an outdoor spot, the indoors was pretty quiet, haha. You can also book via Naver, but only between 5 and 6:30 PM, so if you're planning a group gathering, I'd recommend reserving ahead.

The weather was nice and cool today, so we grabbed an outdoor table. If you're on a date on Songni-dan-gil, you absolutely have to go to Daegang! Keep in mind the outdoor terrace is only open until 10:30 PM.

At the self-serve bar you set up your own drinks, small plates, and utensils, and you can grab as much seaweed as you like, which was a nice touch.
What we ordered: seasonal raw shrimp sashimi and eggplant fritters
Daegang's menu is really diverse, and prices are pretty reasonable too, so it's easy to order a bunch of different things. This was my second visit — the first time I had aged sashimi and clam-scallop soup, which was also delicious. This time we ordered seasonal raw shrimp sashimi and eggplant fritters for something lighter.

Starting off with a cold draft beer~!

Raw shrimp sashimi served fully shelled
What I liked best about Daegang's raw shrimp sashimi was that the shells were already fully cleaned off, so you could dig in right away — so convenient.
Shrimp someone else peels for you tastes the best~! Since freshness really matters for this dish, I was a little worried, but taking one bite showed the texture was genuinely springy and plump.

It had a chewy yet tender texture, and a subtle sweetness came through more and more the longer you chewed.

Raw shrimp sashimi is tasty dipped lightly in vinegared gochujang or soy sauce, but paired with the sesame oil garlic sauce, the sharp, nutty richness of the oil worked incredibly well together.

Enoki mushroom and eggplant fritters
Enoki mushrooms and eggplant, fried crisp and tossed in a sweet-savory sauce! I expected something like an ordinary yuxiang eggplant dish, but the crunchy fry made it genuinely delicious.

Is Daegang worth a visit?
Daegang, a Songni-dan-gil pub where we properly enjoyed the outdoor terrace vibe in Jamsil after a while, along with some delicious food to go with the drinks! If you're looking for an izakaya on Songni-dan-gil, be sure to give it a visit. Another great meal today.
