I had dinner plans in Bangi-dong and was looking for somewhere with good vibes when Jojomomo caught my eye haha. It had a huge number of Naver reviews, all glowing, so I was pretty excited. Here's how it went!

Where is Jojomomo, and what are its hours?

How to find the Jojomomo entrance in the Bangi-dong food alley

It's on the basement floor of the Daebbang Arcade building inside the Bangi-dong food alley! The sign says Jojomomo right at the entrance so it's easy to find — just head down the basement stairs from the entrance.

Inside Jojomomo: interior and atmosphere

Walk inside Jojomomo and you're greeted with soft lighting and a rough, raw-edged interior. With antique furniture layered in, the whole place felt cozy yet had real atmosphere haha 🤍

There are bar tables and regular tables together, so it works whether you're coming with friends or having a solo drink haha. It wasn't rowdy — more the kind of mood where you can actually talk over drinks!

Jojomomo's menu: what anju can you order?

Looking at Jojomomo's menu, instead of typical bar snacks they had a wide variety of Korean-style dishes!

There was everything from hearty options like signature braised pork ribs sujebi (boiled pork) and water dakgalbi (spicy chicken stir-fry), to lighter dishes like tuna aged kimchi rolls and pineapple sherbet 🫧

Drink options at Jojomomo

The drink selection was huge too. Not just dongdongju (unfiltered rice wine), cheongju (clear rice wine), yakju (medicinal rice wine) and fruit wine, but soju, beer and much more — the options were endless.

With that many drink options, it seemed like a good spot for people with different tastes to enjoy together! There were non-alcoholic drinks too, so even non-drinkers can have fun haha. We ordered

  • Scallop fish cake stew (₩23,000)
  • Tuna aged kimchi rolls (₩12,000)
  • Dried persimmon cream cheese rolls (₩11,000)

that!

The welcome drink and starter snack

After ordering and waiting, the welcome drink and basic anju arrived. The basic anju was crackers with truffle potato salad, and the welcome drink was Jirisan Gangsoju! It was my first time trying it, and it was clean-tasting and pretty delicious haha.

I ate the potato salad on a cracker — soft and nutty, easy to eat lightly! I genuinely liked it so much I think it could be sold as a paid item instead of a freebie haha 🩷

Scallop fish cake stew, 23,000 won: a broth with real kick

Finally, the first dish arrived — Jojomomo's scallop fish cake stew. With scallops added to the fish cake stew, you get that refreshing seafood flavor plus extra umami, which made it even more delicious. I especially love a spicy broth, and even though this is a fish cake stew, it had real heat — I couldn't stop eating it 🥹

There was also a ton of fish cake in it, so no matter how much I ate it never seemed to run out haha. A warm soup dish like this is perfect alongside drinks, and honestly works as a full meal too!

There was also mul-tteok (rice cake) in it — doesn't it look super soft just from the photo? It was incredibly soft and chewy, exactly the kind of thing that makes you go 'so this is what mul-tteok is!' haha 👍🏻

The remaining two dishes came out at the same time!

The tuna aged kimchi rolls combined the nutty, clean flavor of tuna with the tangy, crunchy texture of aged kimchi — a really great combo! And they were way bigger than I expected haha. Each bite was so full that just a few pieces left me pretty full.

Eating it in one bite, the nuttiness of the tuna flowed right into the tanginess of the kimchi, so it stayed light and never felt greasy in the mouth! If it does feel a bit rich, pairing it with the wasabi that came alongside seems like a good move too.

Last up, the dried persimmon cream cheese rolls. I'd seen this dish all over social media before but this was my first time trying it at an actual restaurant haha. The sweet, chewy texture unique to dried persimmon combined with the soft, nutty flavor of cream cheese gave it a dessert-like feel. After eating salty anju, taking a bite of this gives you that sweet-salty loop you can't stop 🤎🤍🩵 It's packed with cream cheese and good value too, so I'd definitely recommend ordering it!

Is Jojomomo worth a visit? Final verdict

Jojomomo has a great atmosphere overall and the food is on the more unique side, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an atmospheric Korean anju bar, a Bangi-dong bar, or a Jamsil bar. It's also great for drinks with friends or a date course haha. Every menu item has its own character, so if you're thinking 'I want to try something special instead of the usual bar snacks,' definitely go visit Jojomomo!!
