Bangi-dong beer bar in Seoul: 24,000-won pollack set at 88 Nogari

After a good first round of food in Bangi-dong's food alley, when you're thinking "where should we go for round two?", this is the kind of place that comes to mind. This time I visited 88 Nogari Bangi Branch (88노가리 방이직영점)!

With the weather getting cooler these days, I was in the mood for drinking with the windows wide open and the breeze coming in rather than sitting in a stuffy indoor bar — and this place had exactly that vibe haha. Where is 88 Nogari Bangi Branch, and how do you find the entrance?

88 Nogari Bangi Branch is located in the Bangi-dong food alley, upstairs on the 2nd floor. There's a big menu board on the 1st floor showing the signature dishes, so it was nice to browse what to order before heading up.

Walk up the stairs and the shop is right there on the 2nd floor.

Why the second floor feels like an open-air rooftop

Personally, this was the point I liked most about 88 Nogari Bangi Branch! Even though it's a 2nd-floor bar, the windows are wide open so outside air comes straight in. So instead of feeling like a typical indoor bar, it felt like something between an open-air pojangmacha and a rooftop bar.

Especially on cool days like these, the vibe would probably be amazing! It's not fully outdoors, but sitting on the 2nd floor with the windows open, the breeze comes through and you can still feel the atmosphere of the Bangi-dong food alley — great for that open-air drinking feeling.

88 Nogari's menu: nogari, stews, tteokbokki and ramen

Looking at the menu, the variety of side dishes was huge (photographing it all was a whole task..). From basic snacks like nogari (dried pollak) and meoktae (grilled dried pollak) to soups, fried dishes, stir-fries, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and even ramen — plenty of options for when you suddenly crave something specific while drinking haha.

Going through the menu, a lot of items made me think "oh, this calls for soju" or "this is definitely a beer snack" — it really fit well as a second-round bar.

The free starter snack: chicken crackers

The basic side snack was chicken crackers — crunchy little bites perfect for picking at before the beer arrives! That basic anju (drinking snack) really matters when you go to a bar, right? Haha.

The meoktae and nogari (dried pollack) set for 24,000 won

We ordered the meoktae + nogari combo set for ₩24,000. Both the grilled dried pollak and the dried pollak come out together, great for a group picking at snacks while drinking beer. And dipped in the sauce that comes with it, it's the kind of taste that keeps your hand reaching back for more!

With nogari's distinctly savory, crispy taste and a glass of beer with each bite, the snack plate emptied faster than we expected haha.

Draft beer comes to the table, bottles you grab yourself

At 88 Nogari Bangi Branch, staff bring you the draft beer, but bottled liquor is self-serve — you grab it yourself. We were drinking somaek (soju mixed with beer), so we grabbed the bottle ourselves. The drink fridge was a bit far, which was slightly inconvenient, but the atmosphere and the tasty snacks made up for it. The portions of meoktae and nogari were generous and really delicious haha.

There were three of us, and there were exactly three pieces of meoktae... so we each grabbed one and shook it around haha.

The self-serve corner: ramen, cup noodles and ice cream

Near the entrance there was a ramen machine, cup noodles, and ice cream ready to go. You know that moment mid-drinking when you suddenly think "ah, I want ramen…" or "I want ice cream…" haha.

It was great being able to grab those right there when the craving hits. Especially as a second-round bar, it seemed like a good spot to wrap up the night with a bowl of ramen.

Is 88 Nogari Bangi Branch worth it as a second stop in Bangi-dong?

Overall, I thought 88 Nogari Bangi Branch is a great bar to visit for round two. The variety of snacks is so wide that even if you're already full from round one, you can pick something light — or if you get hungry while drinking, you can easily add on soup, tteokbokki, or ramen.

Most of all, the open-window 2nd-floor atmosphere was fantastic in this weather! Even indoors, the outside breeze comes in, giving off that Bangi-dong open-air drinking feel, and being on the 2nd floor, it also had a bit of a rooftop bar vibe.

A good place to visit when you're wondering "where should we go for round two?" in the Bangi-dong food alley. Especially on a nice day, sitting by the window with a beer sounds perfect 🍺 If you're looking for bars in Bangi-dong, especially ones with an open-air or rooftop vibe, this one's worth checking out :)
