Seoul Forest café: peach and matcha ice cream when mango sold out

Today I want to introduce a Seoul Forest area café that I visited myself and was so happy with! When people think of Seongsu-dong, there's always so much to see — hot spots, café streets, pop-up stores. Especially around Seoul Forest, there are so many pretty cafés that I always end up agonizing over where to go.

This time I visited Mellows, a Seoul Forest area café famous not just for coffee but as one of the go-to dessert spots in Seongsu-dong. True to its aesthetic vibe, it's a great space for photos, so I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a date-course café!

Mellows location and hours

• Location: 7 Wangsimni-ro 10-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, 1F (3-minute walk from Ttukseom Station Exit 7)
• Hours: Mon-Fri 07:00–01:00 (next day) / Sat 11:00–01:00 (next day)
• Closed: Every Sunday

Brick exterior with outdoor seats — the mood inside

A café like this in Seongsu-dong..!! The brick exterior with wood tables and chairs set out front is exactly my style... it felt like a little European alley café naturally tucked into the middle of downtown Seongsu. Hahahahahaha.

The interior isn't huge, but it's neatly done up mostly in wood. Seating is packed in efficiently for the space — a bar table by the full-length window, round tables, and more.

Even the little props in the display case have that certain vibe ~

We didn't even have to think about it — we headed straight for the outdoor seats! Wow~~ this mood really... can you feel it in the photos too? The atmosphere is absolutely insane ♥ (I need to go back soon!!!!!!!!)

Menu and what we ordered

Here's the menu! Along with coffee and ice cream, they also sell cocktails, whiskey, beer, and other alcohol. There's a simple snack menu to go with drinks too, so it looks like a nice spot for a light drink while soaking in the Seongsu-dong vibe!

We ordered peach ice cream (₩4,500), matcha ice cream (₩4,000), iced americano (₩2,000), and an iced decaf caffe latte (₩3,500)!

Mellows, a well-known dessert spot in Seongsu-dong, is a little different from your typical ice cream shop! It's a premium ice cream specialist made with fresh Sangha Farm milk, so instead of artificial sweetness, you get the deep, rich flavor of the milk itself!!

Mango was sold out, so peach ice cream instead

Honestly, I'd heard Mellows' mango ice cream was really, really good and wanted to try it? Unfortunately it was sold out that day.. T_T Supposedly the mango ice cream fixes your heat-wrecked mood... next time I'll definitely have it...

Instead I ordered the peach ice cream!! And I think I actually came here for the peach ice cream.. hahahahahaha. The fragrant sweetness of peach layered onto the savory milk ice cream makes your mouth feel so fresh — this combination is just too good!!!!! Satisfied, satisfied!!

Matcha ice cream

This one's the matcha ice cream! Doesn't it look delicious? The distinctive slight bitterness of matcha melts smoothly in your mouth together with the sweetness and richness of Sangha Farm milk — this one's a winner too!

We also tried the colorful cookies the owner brought us as a service, placed on top of the ice cream. The soft milk ice cream plus the crunchy cookie texture made it even more fun to eat, haha. And the colorful visuals made the photos come out so much cuter!

We finished things off cleanly with a cool coffee at the end! Sitting in the middle of hot-spot Seongsu and enjoying a cup of coffee like that was such a nice break...!! I came back after zoning out and truly soaking in the charm of this Seoul Forest area café~!!!!
