Quiet Seongsu café with fig croffle and roomy seats: Biat Seongsu

Did you think Seongsu-dong was full of crowded, noisy places? That idea completely changed after I visited the large Seongsu café Biat Seongsu.

I ordered the newly released fig croffle, apple lychee ade, and vanilla latte, and it was a quiet, spacious café where you could relax comfortably whether you came alone or with a group.

How long does it take to get from Seongsu Station to Biat Seongsu?

Biat Seongsu is on the second floor at 24-45 Achasan-ro 5-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul. It is about a five-minute walk from Exit 1 of Seongsu Station. It is open from noon to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 7 p.m. on Sundays.

Because the café is on the second floor, you need to climb the stairs before you see it—but from the moment I went up, I could already feel its quiet, cozy atmosphere.

The wood-toned interior gave it a warm, calm feel, and it also felt like a little hideaway tucked deep inside a Seongsu-dong alley.

How is the fig croffle and vanilla latte combination?

We ordered the new fig croffle, apple lychee ade, and a decaf vanilla latte. The fig croffle looked amazing: a crisp croffle topped generously with cream, then piled high with sweet figs.

It even came with herbs, so the plating was a feast for the eyes from the start. The croffle itself was crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, and eating it with the cream and figs gave every bite several different textures.

I debated between a peach latte and a vanilla latte, but decided coffee would pair well with the sweet croffle, so I chose the vanilla latte. It was smooth, nutty, and really delicious. I only drink coffee about once every two weeks, but it was easy for me to enjoy without feeling like too much.

Is the atmosphere comfortable for staying alone?

When you think of cafés in Seongsu-dong, crowded and noisy places probably come to mind first, but Biat was completely different. What I liked most was that, true to a large café, it had plenty of spacious seating and never felt cramped at all.

If you like large cafés, I think you will be really satisfied here.

Tips for choosing a seat

📍TIP The seating is divided into dimly lit and bright areas, so choose the bright seats if you want good photos or the darker seats if you want to chat comfortably, depending on your preference.

It was quiet with a warm atmosphere, so I think it would be great for spending leisurely time alone, too. It had that comfortable feeling where you could stay a long while reading a book or working on a laptop without feeling self-conscious.

To sum it up, Biat Seongsu was a large Seongsu café with delicious new menu items such as the fig croffle as well as a spacious, quiet atmosphere. It is the kind of place that would come to mind when you want to rest somewhere not noisy in Seongsu-dong. The new fig croffle was so good that I think I would want to come back whenever the seasonal menu changes.
