Bangi-dong second-round bar for gogi wanja meatballs: Jojomomo

Whenever I make drinking plans in Bangi-dong, Jojomomo is the first place that comes to mind.

This isn't my first visit — it's already my Nth time, haha, because I personally love this place. There are so many bars in Bangi-dong, but I honestly think this is the one with the best atmosphere in the neighborhood. Plenty of places have great food, plenty have great vibes, but Jojomomo has both, which is why I naturally keep coming back. It's especially good for a day when you want a slightly more atmospheric drink than your average pojangmacha (street tent bar) — this Korean bar fits that mood perfectly.

Jojomomo is located underground, so the interior feels a bit like... a cave? It's dark, but that's exactly what makes the mood so good.

Why I keep coming back to Jojomomo in Bangi-dong

I loved the vibe from my very first visit, and somehow I've now come so many times I can't even count. Bangi-dong has so many bars that it's fun to explore new ones, but in the end you keep going back to the place you actually like.

I've always come here for a second round, so I'm rarely fully sober by the time I show up, but there's no better spot for a group of 3–4 friends. It's great for a date, and just as good for a heart-to-heart with a friend. It suits a night when you want good anju and a real conversation over drinks more than a loud, rowdy group session. Even after so many visits, I still love the atmosphere every single time.

Inside Jojomomo: basement lighting and bar-table seats

There's a bar table too, so it's fine to come alone or with just one other person. There's always a wait here, so... just take whatever seat is open.

The moment you walk into Jojomomo, you feel that distinct, moody atmosphere. The lighting isn't too bright — just soft enough, perfect for a drink. It's a different vibe from the usual loud, rowdy Bangi-dong bar, which is exactly why I like it more.

They give you a welcome drink plus potato salad with crackers, good for nibbling before the main dishes arrive, haha.

I've drunk a real variety of things here — traditional liquor is good, distilled spirits are good, beer is good too. It's fun to try something different each time. Prices aren't exactly cheap for it, but hey, that's what we work for, right ^^

What to order: pork rib suyuk, pollock roe cheese jeon and gogi wanja

Another reason I love Jojomomo — the anju! At a lot of good-atmosphere bars these days, the food ends up being kind of disappointing, but this place, true to being a Korean-style anju bar, has dishes that actually pair well with drinks. Picking off the menu is half the fun.

To introduce what I ate: the signature pork rib suyuk (boiled pork ribs) was delicious,

the pollock roe cheese jeon (savory pancake) was also great — sorry about the photo, when you're drinking and chatting with friends you sometimes forget to photograph the food before digging in...

I had the meat balls recently and they were amazing too — also caught mid-bite in the photo...

They gave us mouthwash when we paid, I think.

We really look happy here... As I get older, I find myself seeing less new people and more of the same comfortable friends, even if it's less often. Spending time like that at Jojomomo, haha. If you're ever in Bangi-dong, I recommend it~~

Is Jojomomo good for a date night in Bangi-dong?

Thanks to the soft lighting, Jojomomo has a great atmosphere and lets you slowly enjoy the food and drinks, which also makes it a solid date spot. I didn't discover Jojomomo through this campaign — I've already been here N times before, which makes it even easier to recommend.

I've been to plenty of bars around Bangi-dong, but there are only a few I keep going back to, and Jojomomo is one I keep thinking about. Good Korean anju paired with drinks, and on top of that, the moody atmosphere I personally love — full satisfaction!

If you're looking for somewhere to have a quiet chat with a friend, or a good-atmosphere Bangi bar for a date, I'd recommend this place. For me, it's one of the best-atmosphere bars in Bangi-dong and a regular spot I've now visited N times — Jojomomo :)
