While looking for somewhere to eat out in Gwanggyo, I discovered a proper gourmet burger place and ended up going back — Base Burger Gwanggyo Avenue France Branch.
Base Burger Gwanggyo Avenue France Branch

Where is Base Burger Gwanggyo Avenue France Branch, and is there parking?
Base Burger Gwanggyo Avenue France Branch is located on the 2nd floor of Gwanggyo Avenue France, close to Gwanggyo Café Street and Gwanggyo Lake Park, and parking is convenient too — in my book it's the go-to gourmet burger spot among the restaurants at Gwanggyo Avenue France.

It's a good fit for family meals, get-togethers with friends, or dates, and apparently group orders and takeout orders are both possible.

Inside Base Burger: seating and kiosk ordering
Inside there are 2-person and 4-person tables, seating around 20 people in total. The interior has a brown tone that feels cozy, so you can take your time over a meal.

There are two kiosks at the entrance so you can order conveniently and just wait for your buzzer to go off. They give you a mozzarella cheese bar if you write a photo review — it's not hard, so I recommend everyone try it and enjoy one.

What are the most popular burgers at Base Burger?
Base Burger's popular menu items are as follows.
- Base Burger: clean, savory, fresh flavor
- Buffalo Chicken Wings: fried without being greasy
- Chilli Mozzarella Cheese Bar: crispy, spicy American chili style
Beyond these, unlike a typical burger joint, there's a wide range of unusual burgers — sriracha, Hawaiian, double bacon cheese, mushroom, greed, wasabi mayo, crunch, mozza and more — so you can try something new.

The free unlimited potato chip self-bar
At the self-bar there are potato chips and sauces, and the big feature is that it's completely free — not even a thousand won — and unlimited too.

The chips are kept warm, crispy, and just salty enough — perfect for whetting your appetite before the food comes out. (They were so good I went back for seconds.)

Base Burger is a gourmet burger specialist, so it doesn't come out factory-style like a fast food chain. So instead of wondering why the food isn't out yet, just think they're taking their time to make it well. It's worth the wait.

Mushroom Burger set: how the whole fried shiitake tastes
I love mushrooms, so this time I ordered the Mushroom Burger set with the Chilli Mozzarella Cheese Bar as a side.

The Mushroom Burger has a whole shiitake mushroom fried and stacked in, so if you're a mushroom fan you can really enjoy the aroma and texture — I highly recommend it.

With a beef patty, cheddar cheese, house sauce, butterhead lettuce, onion and tomato, you might worry the patty plus fried mushroom would be too rich, but the sweet-and-tangy sauce balances it out well.

The burger itself is much bigger than other gourmet burger places, so the burger alone is filling enough. The chewiness of the mushroom and the softness of the patty come together for a satisfying meal with a perfect balance of protein, carbs and fat.

Sweet potato fries for 500 won more, plus the Chilli Mozzarella Cheese Bar
But eating just the burger felt like it wasn't quite enough, so I ordered one more side on top of the fries. Look at this visual — how could I not order it?

For the fries, one came as the default potato, and for the other I paid an extra ₩500 to switch to sweet potato. It was my first time trying the sweet potato version, and it's noticeably sweeter, like a sweet potato stick — I think I'll switch to sweet potato from now on.

The Chilli Mozzarella Cheese Bar is crispy outside and chewy mozzarella inside, topped with a spicy chili sauce — the more you chew, the more addictive the spicy, savory flavor gets. It really tastes American. (I've never been to America, but I'm guessing it's roughly like that.)
They even give you one soda refill, so price-wise it doesn't feel expensive for something billed as a gourmet burger. The staff were kind and the place was clean, so whenever I eat burgers in Gwanggyo I don't think twice — I'll keep coming back to Base Burger Gwanggyo Avenue France Branch. If you love burgers, definitely pay a visit!
