Seohyeon galbijjim restaurant with no dinner wait: Gimcheongja
In short
Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim (김청자매운갈비찜) Seohyeon Station Branch is a spicy braised rib (galbijjim) restaurant on the second floor of Cheonji Officetel in the Seohyeon Station food alley in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Arriving well after the after-work rush, the writer was seated with no wait and finished a mild-heat beef galbijjim with steamed egg and fried rice, then used the 2 hours of free parking in the building's mechanical lot. This is Jihei, back from a real taste of Seohyeon Station spice! This place cooks up a deliciously spicy dish, so I highly recommend it for a day when you want to blast away stress with something fiery!
Where Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim Seohyeon Station Branch is and when it opens
📍270-3 Seohyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do ⏰ Weekdays 11am–10pm, break time 3–5pm (closed every Sunday) 🚗 2 hours free parking in the building's mechanical lot

The folks at Gimcheongja really know how to bring the heat~ It's located right in the Seohyeon Station food alley, and parking was so convenient! Seriously, top marks.

Is parking easy at this Seohyeon Station galbijjim restaurant?
Gimcheongja Maeun Galbijjim's Seohyeon Station branch offers 2 hours of free parking in the building's mechanical lot. There was plenty of mechanical parking space, plus a ground lot too, so parking was a total breeze!

There's a shopping arcade entrance right off the parking lot that leads up to the 2nd floor! Super easy to find your way.

How long is the dinner wait at Gimcheongja?
Arrived! Since I went well after the after-work rush, luckily there was no wait? Seeing the chairs set out though, I could smell that popular-restaurant-with-a-long-wait vibe haha

Here are Gimcheongja's business hours! Only Saturdays seem to open 30 minutes later, so just keep that in mind when you visit! Closed on Sundays!

Once you're inside there's a spacious main hall, and another room-like area with quite a few tables! It was bigger than I expected. There's a flagship branch in Sinsa, and this Seohyeon branch is next — apparently a lot of celebrities have visited too.

Menu options and choosing a spice level
Gimcheongja's menu is simple — just pick one of two options. Beef or pork, haha. Then decide your spice level! We love spicy food but we're total spice wimps, so we went with mild. They say even the mild here is about Shin Ramyun level, but honestly it felt a bit spicier than that!

Besides that there were sides and fried items, plus a wide range of highballs, drinks, and alcohol! Plenty of people were drinking too.

We went with beef galbijjim, mild spice — order complete!

Free cheese noodles if you write a review! We decided to fully experience the spice today and skipped the review haha

Side dishes and where the kimchi comes from
Ta-da, side dishes! A solid lineup — it was so spicy we ended up eating a ton of the mayo macaroni corn haha

These days you can't not check the kimchi's origin, right? Even people at the next table were asking, "Where's the kimchi from here?" haha. We didn't ask outright, but we checked the origin label ourselves — domestic, made in Korea 👍🏻
Steamed egg custard was ready too, standing by for backup haha

How did the mild beef galbijjim taste?
Finally, the spicy galbijjim arrived! It comes with a decent amount of glass noodles and rice cake sticks included as standard.

Felt spoiled with all that beef rib, honestly haha. But here, just one spoonful of the broth and you can tell — ah, this is a proper great restaurant.

Exactly the flavor Koreans love! Loaded with garlic in a rich, silky sauce!

The meat was so hearty and tender! The bone just slid right out, and the meat practically melted.

The fried rice was the best! haha It wasn't too spicy so I ate even more of it!

Cleared it! Ate well :) There aren't that many spots around Seohyeon Station that can carry a lunch crowd with solid Korean food, but I think Gimcheongja definitely deserves that spot. I'd confidently add it to any Seohyeon Station lunch recommendation list. Revisit intent: 1000%! 🔥
