Spicy octopus stir-fry set at a Siheung outlet restaurant: Pyeongi

Whenever we go to Siheung Premium Outlets with the kids, we always scope out where to eat beforehand. One of our family's go-to spots is Pyeongi Dambaek Bone Kalguksu Siheung Premium Outlets.

Pyeongi Dambaek Bone Kalguksu Siheung Premium Outlets is located right in front as soon as you walk into the Taste Village entrance, so it's not hard to find at all!

On nice-weather days, it's also great to eat at the terrace seats.

Since it's set up as a food court, we could sit anywhere we liked, which was convenient too.

What comes in the new octopus stir-fry set?

The kids love the bone kalguksu, so we often stop by here when we visit the outlets — but this time we noticed a new menu item.

It was the octopus stir-fry set, which comes with spicy octopus stir-fry plus 2 clam kalguksu (noodle soup). We usually order the bone kalguksu because of the kids, but this time we were curious about the new menu, so we went with the octopus stir-fry set :)

When we ordered the octopus stir-fry set at Pyeongi Dambaek, the staff asked first whether kids would be eating too. When I said yes, they offered right away to leave out the cheongyang chili and green onion that normally go in — I really appreciated that.

There were plenty of clams in it, so the broth was refreshing, and the kids ate the noodles well too. We usually come for the bone kalguksu, but this time the kids enjoyed the clam kalguksu just as much.

And then there was the octopus stir-fry, which I tried for the first time. Honestly, every visit to Pyeongi Dambaek before this was all about the bone kalguksu the kids love, so I was pleasantly surprised by how good this new menu item was. The sauce paired really well with the octopus, and the spicy seasoning with that smoky charred flavor made me want rice with it. (I bet adding a bowl of rice and mixing it in would be delicious!) The octopus wasn't too chewy either, and the sauce soaked in well, so I kept reaching for more piece after piece. Personally, the octopus stir-fry was the most memorable part of this meal.

The menu's 'heavenly' combo: noodles mixed into the octopus sauce

A line on the menu caught my eye. It said something like, "Mixing the kalguksu noodles into the octopus stir-fry is heaven." I scooped a bit of the clam kalguksu noodles and mixed them into the octopus stir-fry sauce, and honestly, it worked better than I expected. The spicy octopus sauce coated the noodles evenly, and with that smoky char on top, it was seriously delicious.

If you order the new octopus stir-fry set at Pyeongi Dambaek, save some kalguksu noodles and make sure to mix them into the octopus stir-fry. Personally, that combination was the most memorable part of this meal.

Receipt review event: free ice cream

They were also running a receipt review event that gives out free ice cream. Since we visited with the kids, it was a nice bonus to grab ice cream after the meal too. Events like this can change depending on the period, so it's worth checking with the store when you visit.

Is Pyeongi Dambaek a good spot for a meal with kids?

When eating out with kids, it's hard to think only about what the adults want to eat. We always check first whether there's something the kids can eat, and Pyeongi Dambaek is easy for families to visit since they have bone kalguksu that the kids love. This time's octopus stir-fry set was great for that reason too! With octopus stir-fry plus 2 bowls of clam kalguksu, it was easy to split — the adults ate the octopus stir-fry while the kids had the kalguksu. It was a different menu than our usual bone kalguksu, and I enjoyed the spicy octopus stir-fry for the first time in a while too :)
