Gijang crab restaurant in Busan: induction-warmed snow crab ramyeon
In short
Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is a snow crab and king crab restaurant inside Gijang Market in Busan, tucked between Ssangdungi Hoetjip and Hajin Son Mandu. Two meaty snow crabs came out steamed, the crab meat was mixed into the guts in the shell, and the meal finished with 5,000-won fried rice and 10,000-won snow crab ramyeon. The steamed crab sat on an induction burner the whole time, so at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae it stayed hot down to the last bite.

Today I rewarded myself for a long week with a trip to Gijang Market for snow crab!! I came back after eating some seriously meaty crab — let me introduce Gijang Myeongpum Daegae, where I had a great meal.
Where is Gijang Myeongpum Daegae, and where do you park?
Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is at 5 Chaseongdong-ro 73beon-gil, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan, South Korea, inside Gijang Market. It's open daily 10:00–21:00 (last order 20:00) and has its own parking lot.
It's only 426m from Exit 1 of Gijang Station, so it's easy to get to!

Gijang Myeongpum Daegae also has its own private parking lot.

Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is a bit down from the storefront, between Ssangdung Hoetjip (쌍둥이횟집) and Hajin Sonmandu (하진손만두)! Park in the private lot and take a coin!!

If the private lot is full, you can park at the Gijang Market public parking lot.

Here's the exterior of Gijang Myeongpum Daegae.

There are tanks full of snow crab and king crab out front!
The owner's tip on honest weighing at the scale
Gijang Myeongpum Daegae is run by a father of five! It's been on TV shows like Stocking and 1 Night 2 Days. Even inside the store, the tanks were packed with snow crab and king crab~!
And the owner gave us a great tip! He warned us in technical terms about "water tricks" and "scale tricks" haha.
When the scale weighs the empty basket, it should show a negative number — that's how you know a place is honest!! Always watch the scale when your crab gets weighed!! 🌟
The basket itself weighed a whopping 620g!! (How much money is that...🥲)

You can also check the origin labeling board at Gijang Myeongpum Daegae! Snow crab and king crab are from Russia, lobster from Canada, scallops from Japan!
We had them steam two hearty snow crabs for us!!

Steam them up nicely, please~😍

Inside Gijang Myeongpum Daegae: seating and amenities
The first floor of Gijang Myeongpum Daegae has this spacious layout~

There's a second floor too, but it wasn't open on the day I visited!
The restrooms are separated for men and women!

Disposable aprons and baby chairs are also available.

Menu prices and the 5,000-won salad bar
Let's take a look at the simple menu board~!
- Salad bar (per person) ₩5,000
- Fried rice ₩5,000
- Snow crab ramyeon ₩10,000
- Buttered lobster ₩30,000
- Bokbunja ₩15,000
- Seoljungmae ₩15,000
- Baeksaeju ₩12,000
- Maesil Maeul ₩10,000
- Soju/beer ₩5,000
- Soft drinks ₩2,000
- Makgeolli ₩5,000

At Gijang Myeongpum Daegae, there's a ₩5,000 salad bar charge per adult!

The salad bar has all kinds of food set up! It was great being able to fill up on salad bar food while waiting~

Grabbed a simple little plate!

Two snow crabs: mixing the crab meat into the guts
Gloves on and ready to eat!

The snow crab has arrived!

If you want fried rice later, save a bit of the crab shell haha!
I went with a crab lover who showed off some insane skills haha. Mixing crab meat into the guts inside the shell makes for an incredible taste, apparently!
The gut-and-meat mix is done! Stir the guts and meat together well and dig in!! It's absolute heaven.

Abalone on the house~👍
The claws were loaded with meat too~

The legs and body were packed with meat too! Ta-da!
Why the induction burner keeps the crab hot to the end
This might be the biggest strength of Gijang Myeongpum Daegae — they put the crab on an induction burner, so we could keep eating it hot all the way through!

Once we finished the crab, there was a whole pile of shells left over haha.

Finishing with 5,000-won fried rice and 10,000-won snow crab ramyeon
After eating our fill, we asked for the fried rice! It came with crab doenjang (soybean paste) stew too~! We piled on plenty of crab meat and dug in~

The fried rice alone wasn't quite enough, so we also ordered the ₩10,000 snow crab ramyeon! It came loaded with crab legs too! Crab ramyeon really is the truth!✌️ Finished it off with a heart!
If you're looking for an honest snow crab spot at Gijang Market in Busan, I recommend Gijang Myeongpum Daegae!
